Quick fix
I use clairol root touch up when I have no time to dye my hair and I have an important event to go to. Clairol root touch up is not a long term solution and roots are back after a couple of days. But it does the job in an emergency.
Ok
I've tried both spray on root cover up and one with a sponge, in terms of effectiveness, this sits right in the middle. It's not as good as the sponge, but is much better than the spray.
One of the things it has going for it over both is that the effects are more subtle. You have to build up the powder to get a decent coverup, but when the light hits it, the hair looks more natural than other products that do this. Another plus is that this looks pretty decent as an eyebrow powder, though the brush is pretty thick for that so I would use your own.
It is a bit weird because this looks just like an eyebrow palette (mirror and all), but they are recommending it for hair. Would I get the same results if I put eyeshadow on my hair, who knows? Regardless this does an ok job. It does cover up, if you build it up, but as always I wouldn't recommend it for those with short loose hair. Even for those with long hair I would only recommend this (and other cover-up products) for if you're wearing your hair up, with a small amount of roots showing and don't plan to have your hair touched.
This surprised me with how stiff it made my hair. Far stiffer than the sponge on stuff. I'd liken this to wearing a medium or firm hold hairspray. So definitely not something to wear if you want to be touched. While it does transfer from hair to skin (if you use it around the hair near your face), it's actually pretty good about not transferring to pillows and unlike the sponge-on I tried, it doesn't flake either.
I would recommend it as an eyebrow powder, but for a hair cover up, I prefer a different format. However, this certainly isn't the worst one I've tried by a long shot.
Might try again if hair was shorter
Typical drug store hair dye.
I've been dying my own hair for over 10 years and this is the first time k have had one bottle not be enough for my medium length hair.
Probably wont buy again
Wouldn’t buy again
Price was amazing but Color was not exactly what box showed! Would rather pay the extra money and go to a salon. Dried my hair out so much and didn’t cover for long
Not too bad on virgin hair...
Bought this last night on a whim to bleach my hair. I didn't have very high expectations as I have used boxed bleach in the past without much luck. This dye claims to bleach even black hair. I honestly don't think that it would lighten very well in black hair, but I digress...I have colored my hair a lot in the past. I hadn't touched it in about a year so I had lots of virgin hair from my roots down. (light/medium brown hair) Those parts of my hair definitely got pretty light, but it's a yellow blond and I would recommend following it with toner. All in all, not too bad for a box dye and it came with a good amount of product, which is awesome, because my hair is decently long and I actually bought two boxes thinking that one wouldn't be enough. I would probably buy this again in a pinch.
Amazing Color - Poor Staying Power
I have purchased Flare Clairol now in three different colors - the worst color hold has to be Burgandy 5VVR (Alpha-Red). Now the texture and application is great. The gray coverage great. Where is totally drops the bomb is the "bleeding" that seems to come from reds. I expect bleeding for up to a week with reds. This color actually BLEEDS for WEEKS! Yes, you read that correct - weeks. I shower/wash my hair in almost completely cold water and still get the high bleeds. I even have to sleep with a towel over my pillows due to the consistent bleeding (yes even the rubbing causing bleeding).
I just feel like you should be warned. Great pricing, great color - WILL NOT BUY EVER AGAIN due to the bleeding (which happened with the green & blues as well).
I purchased my color at my local Saskatoon Sally's Beauty.
I use Clairol Nice and Easy Root Touch Up Dark Blonde 7 to try and make my roots less noticeable and this was the closest to my current hair colour.
Application was pretty easy but I found the colour to be a bit dull unfortunately.
It also seemed to fade a bit after about 6 washes.
I probably won't be buying this product again.
I found that it was a product which offered good coverage (especially on grey), and was easy to use. The formula stayed put and didn't drip and the colour was close to what I was expecting. I was happy with the results. A bit brighter than what I had. I'd recommend it.
Even though I've used other Clairol hair dyes, Nice and Easy was the worst. Left my hair brittle, and yes I always follow instructions considering it is my hair
So here's the thing, I was trying to lighten up my hair and got a shade of blonde and ended up with some orange tones throughout my hair. It was definitely my own mistake considering that I was uneducated about the dyes and didn't really realize that warm tone dyes were known to do that if your hair already has natural warm hues. Therefore, that is Why I am posting this review. If you are looking to go for a nice shade of blonde without the warm hues make sure to purchase a cool shade, or ash. As long as you're educated this dye is fantastic! It doesn't have the greatest smell, but the after conditioner does and it makes your hair look and feel amazing.
