This product is awful i had to remove the comb because it was useless and it did not even cover up my roots properly such a waste of time and money
DIDN't have a very good experience with perfect 10, left my scalp all oily and scabby for a week after ward:( gross
I recently received a coupon for a free box of Clairol's 'perfect 10' hair colour through a Facebook promotion. I've seen this stuff in the store beside all the 'regular' hair dye for quite some time now. I've seen many people purchase it and ask for it while shopping for hair stuff. So, I was pretty pumped to try it out. I picked up my free box of colour 6R light auburn or "ginger in a snap". Normally, this stuff is priced much higher than other brands of hair dye, it seems to average between $14.00-$18.00.
My hair is naturally pretty close to this colour but it's been dyed like crazy. Before this most recent application I had a blue colour in there over top of a "dark blond" (brown). The blue's been in there for months and has stained my hair an offish green colour. So needless to say I was interested to see how effective this stuff would be in covering the craziness that's going on up there. I was hoping to cover the colour without having to use a stripper or a bleach to take the blue out, because my hair is already uber damaged from all the other terrible things I've done to it.
Upon opening the activator bottle I was struck by how strongly this stuff smells. Like, it stinks. Overwhelming, lung hurting ammonia stench. I've never used such a stinky hair dye, hell even bleach kits I've used don't smell this bad and I've been dying and bleaching my hair at home for about 10 years now. Stench aside, I powered through, mixed it up and applied it to my head. The whole time it's in your hair you're practically crying from trying to get away from the smell. I locked myself in a bedroom with the windows wide open on another floor of the house to keep from disturbing my family, it smells that strongly. I'm serious, it hurts.
And it's a good thing you only leave it on for 10 minutes. Toward the end of the 10 minutes I felt a major itching in my scalp. After rinsing it out I don't think I could have damaged it more if I bleached it with actual Clorox. While the conditioner is really nice I felt like I needed 5 tubes of it to make my hair feel like hair (not straw). The damage is unreal.
It does cover really well though. I would never ever buy this stuff now that I've tried it. "Saving" an extra 10 minutes of my time is in no way worth attempting to deal with that terrible smell nor is it worth the extra damage that it caused to my hair. It really doesn't cover or work any better than any of the hair dyes I've used before and it's about 10x stronger smelling and more damaging.
If you're considering buying this stuff because of the 10 minute convenience factor. Save your lungs, nose, scalp and hair the torture and just go buy something else. It's just not worth it.
I usually get my hair professionall dyed, but decided I would try the Perfect 10 hair dye..
I was disappointed. It didn't cover all my grey hairs, and didnt distribute the color all that evenly... Overall, don't really recommend to others.
I tried Perfect 10 for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Although it had a pleasant smell and was quite easy to use, two weeks later I have hardly any color left in my hair.
It may be easy on your hair but if you have to color your hair twice as often or more is it really better for you hair?
I would not use it again.
I bought what i thought was a PERMANENT hair color but really it only lasted about 2 weeks before it rinsed out. I was not impressed at all!
I puchased the perfect 10 hair colour with bonus pantene expressions shampoo. I dyed my hair and it turned out amazing perfect colour everything. BUT a week later and there was barely any colour left in my hair. :( I don't really know if its just because I washed my hair too soon after dying it or if its because of the red colour, or maybe my hair just isn't taking hair dye, all I know is that my hair turned into a light orange/brown colour and almost back to where I started before the dye. Also every time I wash my hair, dye comes out on the hair towel. It is most likely washing out not fading out so I have no idea why that is happening. This is really depressing because I loved the colour sooo much and it didn't even last a week. Plus I have been using the colour treated pantene red expression stuff as well so the colour should be keeping. I am now going to a professional and this colour seems to be keeping ok so not sure if its the dye or my hair.
