I recieved the free shellac manicure to try it out from chick advisor and lux spa.
I enjoyed the application of the shellac manicure, the process was long but it was really nice and it looked like it would last a long time. Since my nails weren't that long, the salon told me it wouldnt last as long as longer nails would. It lasted about a week before my nails grew out and it started chipping. It was a little bit disappointing as I thought it would last longer but I was really happy with the colour and the results.
I really like this option rather than other nail applications because it kept my nails beautiful and it wasn't dangerous.
I'd definitely get another manicure in the future because I loved it and will defnitely recommend it to all my friends!!
I was lucky enough to get to try CND Shellac Manicures from ChickAdvisor and their Product Review Club.
The CND Shellac polish went on well and the process was quick and easy. I like the selection of colours that CND had available and was able to try one of their new winter shades.
Well I like the ease of product application and the idea of an easier removal with CND shellac I find that the nail polish has not held up quite as well as some of the other gel nail / shellac style polishes that I have used. I already have a couple small edge chips within the first week which is not normal for me with this kind of manicure.
The nail technician was great at explaining the difference between Shellac™ and other gel-like products and I do feel that Shellac™ is easier on my nails and easier to remove.
I think that I would most likely get a CND Shellac manicure again and recommend it to friends who find that other gel polishes damage their nails and are too hard to remove at home.
My experience during the application of the products was quick and easy. I was surprised by how shiny and clean the finish was. Usually, after 2 days of applying nail polish from other brands, I start to see chips and evidence of scratches, but this manicure is durable and is definitely long lasting. There were many beautiful colors to choose from and different shades of each color which is nice. Shellac is a high quality product that I would definitely recommend to my friends!
I loved my shellac manicure! I tried it as part of the #TryShellac Chick Advisor Team.
It was really quick to dry - no waiting around for 30 minutes, avoiding using your hands. Within 5 minutes, I could go about my day!
I did find that the shellac chipped after the first week. I wasn't thrilled with this, as when I get acrylic, the polish stays on until I get them filled. Also - shellac is pretty expensive (I priced it out around $30-$40 bucks). However - I think it's better for my nails, and it doesn't weigh heavily.
Overall, I would recommend as a once-in-a-while treat.
I had a really great experience getting my CND Shellac manicure at Upper Village Spa. The process was about an hour, the colour selection is on point and the finish is beautiful and glossy.
Even after 1 week of going to the gym, washing dishes, doing the laundry, cooking and working all day at the computer - there's absolutely no chipping and it still has its shiny lustre. I really love it! I can't believe how good it still looks!
CND Shellac has a great selection of colours. I love red so I chose Scarlet Letter. It's perfect for my skin colour. The whole process took about 1 hour which included the base coat and colour coat. The manicurist, Cheri, explained how quickly the colour "cures" to the nails and that's why there's no chipping. Drying literally took 2 minutes on each hand. And after a quick wipe down, I was ready to go.
After my Shellac manicure, I actually went right to the gym for a workout. I would never have done that with a regular salon manicure. But with CND Shellac it was not a problem.
I tried CND Shellac for the first time and unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the colour selection. I wanted a medium tone purple and they didn't have it. They also didn't have many shimmery colours to try with my forth nail which I usually do a different colour. I ended up having a hard time choosing a colour that worked for me despite the many options available.
In addition, when the nail polish was applied, it ended up being a bit streaky. Even now there are a few bubble holes within the polish. I think the girl doing my nails knew what she was doing based on what she was saying which made me think that the problem was likely the polish.
Overall, my manicure is still in pretty good shape after 5 days and I expect it will last much longer. I think my preference is for the OPI shellac line which I've used for manicures in the past.
I only get Shellac manicures if I can help it. The regular polishes just do not compare to Shellac - I can go 1.5 weeks without any polish falling off or scartches. So worth the premium price you will pay for this manicure. The only downside - when it starts to come off you have to go to the salon (doing this yourself will take forever).
Shellac manicures are my favourite. They're cheap (roughly $25-$30 CDN), they last 3 weeks to a month and it doesn't ruin your nails. It's applied like a nail polish and hardens under UV light. Shellac is hypoallergenic and 3-FREE.
The downfall is removal. It takes about 10 minutes and you need to use acetone.
