TERRIBLE & ANNOYING FAD! I hope it ends, soon! One person saw it in a book store or saw it on TV and now people think this is COOL? No. Excercise relieves stress. Lift weights. Go for a walk. Try deep breathing/meditation & listening to Mozart if you can't walk! Or if you want to act like a "kid" go buy some clay and squeeze it. Honestly if you find "coloring" to be fun...go buy a childrens coloring book from a dollar store! It will have more interesting things to color other than geometric East Indian patterns! Any form of art can relieve stress...and any form of art is better than this trendy & annoying fad! I am an adult and I don't have time to waste COLORING annoying patterns! Even when you finish one of these, it's not like it looks good enough to hang up! The patterns make me want to vomit. Go buy a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle - at least when it's done, you could hang it up if you wanted to. (maybe in a garage, rec room or childrens room)
A mandala (Sanskrit) is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe.
It would stress me out to color in small triangles in some East Indian pattern that means nothing to me!
LAME.
I have bought acouple of these from different brands and they are all amazing ! After quitting smoking I found myself not really knowing what to do on my breaks but I would bring one of these with me and my anxiety instantly went away and I was completely distracted! I think these are amazing for anyone looking for a creative outlet or somthing fun to do in your spare time !
I have bought a few adult coloring books and find them great for relieving stress. I like coloring in them before I go to bed with a relaxing cup of tea.
Last year, when my support worker suggested coloring to help with my anxiety and depression, I honestly thought she was joking. She sent me home with a box of crayons and a kids coloring book. Still, I thought she was joking. A few sessions later, she asked how the coloring was going - I hadn't begun. Then, she told me of these adult coloring books with more challenging color area- and I was sold.
The adult coloring books even come in a beginner form - which is the first that I bought. Some of the pages were partially colored, just to give me a feel of how to keep it going. It really did work! After a few weeks with the encouragement of the beginner book and my finding it ok to "mix it up", I got another Adult Coloring book. The second is a more complex book, with tattoos and mandalas to color (awesome combo, eh?!)
Now, I have a few adult coloring books and a nice new set of fine-tip markers, colored pencils - and yes, still the box of crayons.
This is such a soothing past-time. I totally suggest it for all ages and maturity levels ;)
I love colouring! The fact that these are so detailed allows me to really forget about any worries on my mind and to focus on my picture that I am colouring. It is so soothing (add wine to this and it's a nice relaxing evening) and helps my anxiety a lot.
I have been colouring in colouring books for mental relaxation for my whole life. I am beyond excited that this new "trend" has take hold so I can finally get my hands on adult colouring books--that is, colouring books of higher paper quality, more complex and pleasing pictures compared to the child and cartoon ones I previously had to use! Colouring has always been my outlet when my anxiety gets high and I am so happy I can now relate this pastime with others. My favourite colouring books are ones with proper spiral binding which makes it much easier to colour (though often hard to find)!
I used to enjoy it.. now it's just a matter of doing it again. I have quite a few adult coloring books It was very relaxing. Your mind just goes somewhere and very therapeutic.. unless you are coloring one of those swear adult coloring books.
Love it!! Release stress, relax, grab a glass of wine and unwind!!
Great for the soul and mind, highly addictive!! Once you start, you can't put those colouring pencils down!! Give it a go!!
I absolutely love my adult colouring books! Since my job is not very creative, I actually use this to show my creative side and make sure that side of my brain does not go to mush. LOL. These are such a great thing for anyone who is looking to fill some time, relax a little bit, and have fun! I will be using mine until they are done, and then I will buy some more :)
