This mascara is supposed to be the blackest Lash Blast with a hint of shimmer and colour. There are 4 shades: Black Platinum (black-purple), Black Cabernet (black-red), Black Emerald (black-green) and Black Royale (black-Blue) I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with this mascara. Although I was rather skeptical about the whole shimmer thing in the first place, I thought I would give it a try because it was the same price as regular Lash Blast (which I am IN LOVE with).
I chose Black Royal because I thought it would be purple (purple brings out brown eyes right?) but in the store or on the package there is NO indication of what the colour actually is, other than the name. And the names are pretty damn vague if you ask me. (Hence my attempt at a detailed break down of the colours offered above). So I was off to a bad start because I got blue when in fact I had wanted purple. This was my own fault for thinking royal implied purple I suppose.
Anyway, as some of the other reviewers have mentioned, you can only really tell there is anything remotely special (colour and shimmer wise) in some lighting. And even then, it is nothing to write home about. However I cannot complain that much because it still has the incredible volumizing power of the original Lash Blast, so it was not a total waste of money and I will continue to use it until it runs out.
In terms of repurchasing? That would be a no. Also I would not advise buying this mascara if it costs more than the original because it is not worth it. However as regular mascara in general I would still have to give it the thumbs up.
It's a nice mascara with the same volumizing properties of Lashblast, but it flakes. By the end of the day I have a few flakes under my eyes, which doesn't happen with other mascaras. The sparkles are minimal and I'm not sure that it is important to have sparkles on one's eyelashes. I'm fine with just having big bold black ones.
I was really excited about this mascara since it's suppose to sparkle. i bought black emerald and was kind of disappointed. To start of with the formula is just like the original lashblast. I'm okay with the formula, i don't love it, i don't hate it. It did an average job as an mascara. I love stuff that sparkles and this masacara didn't really deliver what it promises. There were tiny specks of sparkles but it wasn't noticeable, up close or from far away. It was a good alternative to have as a softer colored masacara. But since i like my masacaras dark and dramatic, this didn't really do the trick for me. If you want something subtle, this will do the trick.
I got this product in a gift bag and love love it. THe brush is perfect for my eyes. It's really stubby but great at defining lashes with no clumps. If you're going for length you'll need a couple of applications. If you want a quick brush on before the gym or running errands this is perfect. I layer for a night out so I can get it darker and longer. But I'll do a couple quick swips in the morning as part of my work routine.
I read the below post after my review and had no idea there was sparkles in the mascara. Clearly it's a failed product!
I love CoverGirl LashBlast mascara so I was super pumped when I heard about the Luxe version with the 'sparkle'. I was very disappointed. The pros? It is still a good mascara as it does what the original LashBlast does (I use waterproof as it holds the curl better, this stuff didn't hold as well because it is not waterproof.. obviously). The cons? You can't notice ANY sparkle. Maybe if you are standing in a certain light but then it is just an annoying little piece of glitter on your lash. So if you are looking for some sparkly lashes, invest in some fake ones and apply them as you wish. I will not be buying Luxe again.
