I got this product free to review from Chick Advisor. It was a the best taste test ever :)
I ordered a Traditional DQ cake. We went with a Monster High theme. I could not find the theme I was looking for online, but when I called my local store they said they would do it. And they did.
My in-store pick up was okay. They didn't realize I was there for a bit, so I had to say excuse me a few times before they helped me. Once they did they were fast and friendly.
We got this cake for my niece's birthday party. It was a hit. The kids all loved the Monster High theme and we at the cake in no time flat. It tasted great.
I would buy this cake again for sure and I would totally recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cake.
I received a gift card so that I could review this product. I ordered a Blizzard Cake online (Mud Slide). I found the website easy to use. The site gives you the option to select a store near your area first (which is good), but it turns out that selection varies from store to store (not so good). The first location I selected had only 6 Blizzard Cakes to choose from. I didn't realize there were more options until I noticed an ad for other cakes. I switched locations to get a better selection (almost double the options were at this location). It would be better if the site showed you all the options available and allowed you to choose the location after deciding what you want. I called in to ask if it was possible to do half one cake and half of another, I was told it was possible but I would have to come into the store and talk to the manager. I didn't opt for that. I ordered the cake online, opted for a message to be written on the cake, and chose white icing.
When I picked up the cake it was easy and quick. The only thing is that what I ordered is not what I received. I had chosen white icing to be used to write a message on the cake, but red gel was used instead. While this isn't a big deal, they should either follow the customer's request or contact them to let them know their request is not possible. As someone who takes the bus it was challenging to transport the cake. I was given a paper bag which basically covered the cake, but I had to cradle it in my arms as it basically wrapped around the cake and there was no way to use it as a carrier (no handles). They should provide bags with handles so the cake is easy to carry.
I brought the cake into my class to share (for no special occasion). Everyone enjoyed it. I personally did not like the cake, but others said they really liked it. It tasted like a bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, with a bit of (stale) extras (brownies, caramel sauce, etc.). I'd opt for buying tubs of ice cream in the future and using fresh toppings rather than ordering a cake.
The only thing I would recommend is that if you want to get a cake don't bother ordering it online, you can find them already made in store and you can tell them what you want written on it store (and avoid mistakes). If I ever opted to get another ice cream cake, I would not bother pre-ordering it. But I am not likely to ever get another cake from DQ. If you like ice cream cake I'd say go for it (although I think Baskin Robbins has better cakes to be honest), but otherwise I don't recommend it.
I am a lucky Chick Advisor member, which was selected to try a Dairy Queen Cake for free. I, (we, my family), was able to review either a traditional DQ ice cream cake or a Blizzard filled cake, so we opted for a Blizzard cake for two birthdays that we were celebrating. I attempted to order this cake on-line, however, after several crashes (resulting in double orders), I called-in my order. With a great selection of cakes and a few hos and hums, we chose a double fudge cookie dough cake. It was made fresh to order, but, with a little concern, because the lady taking the order hadn't made one before (as I heard her state in the background). However, it was absolutely delicious! Picking it up was hassle-free and easy. Everyone devoured their piece, and with the 10" there was still very little left. The only flaw that this cake had, (aside from not having enough), was that in opting to put Happy Birthday on it with two of our children's names, we lost a substantial amount of toppings, which I think should have been mentioned to me when ordering. I would recommend this cake to friends and family alike, and would definitely order another in the future, WITHOUT adding any personal notations on it. Very good product, so-so experience. Over-all, a definite must try!
I was able to review one of the cakes so we chose a Blizzard Cake for a celebration we were having. I ordered this cake on-line. We chose a mint Oreo Blizzard Cake. After ordering it on-line (choosing the date and time I wanted to pick it up was easy. The website itself was very easy to navigate), after ordering the cake we promptly received a verification e-mail which gave me great confidence my order didn't just go out until cyber space. The cake was ready when I needed to pick it up, it was very close to being exactly what was pictured on the Internet. I took a quick peek in the freezer to see what other cakes (and if the one I ordered was in there). The cake I had ordered was brought out from their freezer in the back so it seemed to me that the cake was made "fresh for my order". I have no way to verify this, but there were no other Blizzard cakes in the display case only the regular sheet cakes and circular ones. The ice cream was perfect. The argument always is what is the "favourite" part of a Dairy Queen cake? I would say the yummy fudge & cookie centre and the whip cream piping on top. It was perfection in a cake! It was sure good. I WOULD order this mint-Oreo cake again. I WOULD order the cake on-line again. It was so easy to order it that way and the result was perfect. Absolutely hassle-free.
It was really a wonderful experience.
I was one of the lucky members selected to try the DQ Cake for free. We decided to try the Blizzard Cake for the first time as we have tried the Original Cakes in the past (which are very tasty) During my online order experience the site crashed about 3 times (frustrating!) but I was able to complete the order. I was not overly impressed with the selection of blizzard cakes (only two to choose from). When picking up the cake, the store was very busy (we only have one DQ in our city) but the kids working in the store were moving as fast as possible and were friendly. We were celebrating our son's 5th birthday. I wish we would have ordered the original cake as that was our preference. I would order another DQ cake but not the blizzard cake. I have recommended DQ cakes in the past and I will continue to in the future.
I ordered a DQ cake online, we decided to go with the classic rather than the blizzard because we know everyone enjoyed it. The online ordering system crashed on me 5 times before I made it all the way through the process. We chose a sheet cake because we wanted to have lots to share and decided to make the occasion the fact that we are expecting again. We went under the "Everyday Celebrations" category because this was NOT a birthday, and chose a camouflage cake. The picture showed "Happy Birthday" on the front but the picture is small. I edited it to change the wording to "Soon to be a Family of 5!" but the preview would not come up. I ordered it anyway. When I went to pick up my cake I was not happy to see that it said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" across the middle, and my edited message across the top. The staff there was very apologetic when I was not happy, and explained that it was part of the edible image. You could not tell that in the tiny photo on the DQ website, and the preview had not worked so there was no way for me to know that. In my opinion the staff there should have then called me to confirm the order since it was obviously not a Birthday cake.... overall I was not impressed with the ordering system (great IDEA but needs to be clearer and more reliable) or with the staff response to a cake order that didn't seem to make sense. They offered to make me a new one but not until the next day, which did not work for me. When I got home I was unimpressed, in addition to the error it was poorly made (we LOVE DQ cakes normally) the top kept separating every time we cut a piece, the fudge/cookie centre was super thin, not nice and thick like normal and the edible image was not put on properly, it was wrinkled and bubbled off the cake. Overall not the experience I was hoping for.
i tried to order on line but for some reason the site kept giving me an error..so I ordered instore. We ordered the Blizzard cake and picked it up tonight. Ordering was easy but pick up was awesome..lol..quick like bunnies they were. There was no occassion for the cake, just the join of ice cream. And there is no ice cream cake like a DQ cake I now know. Wow! Loved it! BEST ever...just really wish they weren't so expensive :( ..We will definately order from DQ for our next 'occassion'
Thanks!
The \Classic DQ cakes are good, however the blizzard cakes are not what they are advertised....I got a reese peanut butter cake and I think there was about 7 pieces in the whole cake....what a let down
Grandkids love this ice cream dessert and has often been the birthday cake requested.
My whole family enjoys the delicious flavors of the cake. It is always full of taste and my kids want it for every occasion.
