I was also really excited about the concept of ordering a cake online. I was thinking that this would be a time saver and also be very convenient. I love DQ ice cream cakes, they are fantastic!
Unfortunately, the online ordering process was not as pleasant as I had hoped.
The use of the website was quite simple and straightforward, which was great. However the selection of cakes was few and far between, which was disappointing because I know that in-store they have a MUCH wider selection and the customizing options are endless. I did not have the choice to order a blizzard cake and the only customizing I was able to do was pick the words that would be written on the cake and what color the icing would be for the words. That is it. The cake selection was terrible and I ended up having to settle on a cake that didn't really fit our celebration. We ordered this cake for our child for a little back to school party.
The day that we were supposed to pick up our cake I got a call from the cake decorator at our local DQ informing us that they didn't have the decor for our cake (we ordered a Finding Nemo cake) and that we would have to order another. So we had to go to the DQ store and look at their catalog of cakes to chose from (there were hundreds of designs to pick from plus they could customize and do a one of a kind picture). We then put our new order in for the cake and it was ready the next day for pick up and all was good.
I would have to say that sometimes talking to someone face to face is worth the extra effort for better customer service and having your needs met.
A few ways I feel that the website could improve is that they increase the cake selection and make it possible to do custom cakes and also that the website be up to date with which stores can do which cakes (in our case they did not have the Finding Nemo figurines for our cake).
In future I will not use the online cake ordering service that they provide, unless it greatly improves...I would just rather go in and know that things are not lost in translation.

When I visited the DQ's cake website they had quite the variety to choose from. You can order a traditional DQ cake or a Blizzard cake. I went with the Midnight Truffle Blizzard ice cream cake for my mom's birthday. The ordering process was painless and very easy to navigate. The website will locate the nearest DQ by you and will even let you know if they want you to pay before pick up or pay at pick up which is great.

I had to order my blizzard cake at least a day in advance, which wasn't a problem for us. I selected my cake, the size and when I wanted to pick up it up along with Happy Birthday Mom written on it.

Upon pick up, the staff was friendly and double checked to make sure the cake was the right one. Payment was a breeze. I did not encounter any difficulties. The decoration was very basic, but we didn't mind since we were looking forward to cutting it up and eating it. The Midnight Truffle was amazing! My mom enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend ordering a DQ cake again.

It was awesome to be one of the chosen ones to review a Dairy Queen cake! As soon as I got my $35 gift card in the mail I consulted with family as to what kind we should order for my nephew's birthday. There was a pretty decent selection to choose from, and we ended up settling on a 10" Turtle Pecan Cluster Blizzard cake.

We wanted it be a bit different than the usual birthday cake, so, as a joke, we got them to customize it with "Don't Worry, Be Happy." (It turned out to be just what he needed, as, after we presented him with the cake, he told us that he just got fired from his job, and the "Don't Worry, Be Happy." made him laugh, and he needed that.)

As for the actual quality of the cake, I'd say they did a beautiful job decorating it, right down to choosing an appropriate colour for the words. The taste was quite good, although we would have preferred it if their special fudge crunch center extended right to the sides of the cake, so that everyone could have a bit in their slice of cake. We weren't too happy that there was just over an inch - worth of plain vanilla surrounding the turtle pecan cluster center. Good thing we chose the bigger cake as everyone wanted a bit of that yummy fudge crunchy stuff.

No complaints about the service at pick-up. The fellow who served me was very nice and even put the cake into a bag so that I could carry it easily as I was walking with a cane. Very pleased with the gentleman.

Definitely will be coming back for more, but next time, I think I'll try one of the tortes they have up for grabs. And yes, I will pass it on that our local DQ has terrific cakes and service.

I was happy to be selected to take part in the Dairy queen DQ cakes review in which I received a gift card to purchase a cake. We had brought a traditional cake earlier in the summer to celebrate my daughter's birthday so we decided to try something new and order a blizzard cake. As we all could not come to an agreement on which cake to get we order two, the Oreo cheese quake and the strawberry cheese quake. The online ordering process was super easy, pick the cakes we wanted (a per-design) enter our information and the time of day we would like to pick it up. Two days later we went to the store and collect our cake. My experience in store was great, this Dq location is usually very busy and the staffs seems to be well trained, the line move very quickly. And my Oreo cheese quake did not disappoint. Love it. The only thing I would change would be the price.

With two birthdays in the beginning of September, the opportunity to test the DQ cakes for free could not have come at a better time. Ordering the traditional DQ Cake online, the ordering process went very smoothly. The selection and variety online however I felt was limited. This became even clearer to me upon viewing a cake catalog at the Dairy Queen I picked the cake up from. The selection and variety available in the in store catalog trumped that of the online offerings. The pick up process went smoothly with no issue.
The cake was a huge hit with everyone and I must say it didn't last long. :) I would definitely consider ordering another one in the future and would most definitely recommend it to a friend as well.

Ordering online was super easy, and there were tons of cakes to choose from, including blizzard cakes. It was so nice to have designs laid out for me; there was something for everyone, and for every occasion. I ordered a regular ice cream cake and it was so good! I was definitely treated extra special by my kiddos that night :) I couldn't believe how simple it was to order, and I would definitely do it again! My cake was ready to pick up at my local Dairy Queen when they said it would be, the employees were all really friendly. I highly recommend ordering a Dairy Queen cake online and will do it again for our next celebration!

After being chosen to review the online customization process for DQ cakes and with 3 September Birthdays and a family photo session all in one month, this couldn't have come at a better time. The online process was a breeze, hardest part was picking icing colours for my borders and making the decision of what the message should say. We went with "Happy End of Summer 2013" and enjoyed the cake after our family's photo session. along with a BBQ it was perfect. The only complaint I have but this would not stop me from ordering again was that I had picked two different border colours and when received they were both white. So a little dissappointed there but the hand written message was beautiful and the flower decorations were also beautiful as i had just said pink and yellow flowers. Had I picked up the cake and not hubby, I'm sure they would have corrected the borders had it been pointed out. But a free cake and 11 happy ice cream cake eaters, we have no complaints! :) Very delicious and cake was beautiful. It's only me who knows that the borders were incorrect ;) Would for sure order and customize DQ Cakes again and I love my DQ store and all they do in my community so would love to support them when I can.

I was recently chosen to do a review for DQ Cakes...My kids were super-excited, this is their fave place to get cakes...We had purchased one online for my youngest daughter Hailey in feb, and it was a hit...So we decided to go for the blizzard oreo cake....filled with ice cream, oreo bits, fudge, can you say every kids dream and even some adults....the kids could not wait to dig in...We were able to order the cake online, which was super easy and convenient...My only issue was when I went to pick up the cake...The service at the broadview location was lousy at best, let me explain...a customer that came behind me was served before me ( believe i was not happy and did complain) three teenagers working there could not find my order, even though i had placed it online three days prior...They took a cake that was pre-made from the cooler and even though i did not specify what i wanted on the cake, they put Happy BIrthday Hailey on it...which was strange considering they could not find my original order , wondering if they had pulled up my previous order from Feb...but even in Feb, they could not find my order * the manager at the time was wonderful and fixed the problem asap)....So after dealing with less then great service it was time to take it home and try our cake....My kids were so happy, all that ice cream, fudge, and oreos had them on a sugar high which lasted all night, lol....even my hubby and i had some and i have to admit it was pretty tasty...So would i do it again....you know it, even with shoddy service instore, you cannot believe how amazing the cake was....im thinking of getting one as a treat once a month...trying all the different varietys and characters you can request on them....i might try to sneak the cheesecake version in the house very soon...shhh its a secret....awesome value for money, def a hit with the kids and adults alike, and tasty....two thumbs up

they taste great and fun to eat just miss the days of cheaper prices. It is nice to have on your special day and I always look forward to it.

Wow, I was very excited to be able to review a DQ Cake, and we chose to order the 10" Round Midnite Truffle Blizzard cake. This weekend just happened to be my mom's birthday, so I hosted the party. The DQ Cake website was very easy to navigate, and there was an amazing selection, and great personalization options. I called my local Dairy Queen a few days later, to make sure my order had been received, as I'd previously read that someone else's hadn't been received. My order had gone through successfully, and pick-up was a breeze. They got the birthday message that I wanted written on the cake correct, which was important. Everyone loved the look and taste of the cake! Although a bit costly, I'll definitely be ordering more DQ Cakes in the future. It was a huge hit, and my kids look forward to eating the leftovers, over the next few days :)
