I was one of the lucky ones, who was chosen to try and review Dairy Queen Cakes. Thank you Chick Advisor for this awesome opportunity. I ordered Rolo Blizzard Cake for my niece's 6th birthday. The online ordering process was easy i just choose the nearest location, convenient for me time for pickup, selected the cake, added personalized massage, colors. Two days later my cake was ready, picked up process was fast and easy.
The cake looked nice the personal massage and colors was just like i ordered. The cake was delicious.
I would definitely recommend to try DQ cakes. It's easy to order, beautiful and delicious cakes.

When I was selected to test out the online ordering process for the month of September, I was super excited to get a free ice cream cake for my husband's birthday. Only a select number of locations will accept online orders but luckily, the location closest to our house was on the list. It took a total of 3 minutes to place an order online: (1) Choose location (2) Choose cake type (traditional vs ice cream cake) (3) Choose size (4) Choose icing colour & customize message. Pick up was available for next day and I was able to choose a pick up time as well. When we went to pick up the cake, the staff was super friendly and found my cake right away. I paid with no issues using the DQ gift card and was in and out in under 2 minutes! All in all, a great experience and I loved being able to plan ahead!

I was selected to review this product for free! I ordered a traditional cake. It was my daughters birthday this past weekend it was perfect timing! I selected the barbie design to match her birthday theme, So grateful they had many different choices! I picked up in store with no problems. The quality was excellent! I would consider DQ for our future birthday cake purchases!

I was selected to receive a free DQ ice cream cake as part of the Chick Advisor Product Review Club. It was perfect timing as we were celebrating my step father's 65th birthday. I ordered the traditional DQ cake and wasn't disappointed - it was delicious!
The ordering process was ok. I wasn't thrilled that even though there's a DQ right by my home, they don't offer the online ordering and I had to drive across the city to pick it up.
My order wasn't exactly correct. I had requested to have the writing done in blue and it ended up being in red... not a huge deal and I didn't complain about it. I wouldn't have a lot of confidence in ordering again though for anything important - maybe just a family bbq but not something special.

I was chosen to be a product tester and jumped at the opportunity. I ordered the cake online and had a very hard time looking at the cake pictures. Every time I went to look at a selection of cakes they all disappeared and the page was blank. I had to keep starting at the very beginning, where you select a store, to be able to load the next set of pictures. I was disappointed with the online choices for cakes, I was expecting more. I ordered a traditional DQ cake, 10" round. The checkout process was easy with no problems. In store pickup was fast, no problems, the cake was to order. The taste of the cake made up for the frustration of uploading the pictures from the website. I would definitely recommend the cake, it was yummy. I can see already that I am going to be eating cake every night...yummy.

I went online to order the dairy queen ice cream cake. It was VERY easy to choose exactly what you want. You first choose your location where you would like to pick it up. Then you are able to select what kind of cake, classic or blizzard. You choose your size, style of icing, you can even order a custom cake by uploading the picture you want to appear on the cake. All very seamlessly. It advises you on the number of days they require to have your order ready, most available within 1-2 days, which is completely realistic. I ordered mine on a Thursday for a sunday pick up. You simply select the time you want to pick it up and it was ready. I really enjoyed the process of being able to just order it at home and pick it up when I am ready. With 2 little ones it is hard to make there to order something custom. Most times it is a quick stop in, and get a name personalized. Prices were the same in store so no extra charge for the convenience. Would DEFINATELY recommend this to everyone.

I was so excited to receive my giftcard to try Dairy Queen Cake...just in time for my daughters 6th birthday. It was so easy to log in online and order the cake. I only wish there were a few more options online, but we loved the Balloon cake we decided on. It was so easy to order and than go pick it up at my local DQ. I love that I barely need to talk to anyone... :) The cake we got was beautiful and delicious. It didn't even make it home after the birthday party....gone. I think some of the parents might have dug in as well.
I would highly recommend Dairy Queen cakes to all my friends. Actually i plan on ordering another one in a few weeks to celebrate my brothers birthday.

I ordered online the 8" Midnite Truffle! This cake was so good! I loved this as blizzard and to have this as a cake is even better! The online ordering was simple and quick. I would totally order this again :)

I was selected to receive a free DQ ice cream cake as part of the Chick Advisor Product Review Club. Thank you - what a wonderful treat! I've had a DQ cake before. I ordered a 10" blizzard cake (oreo cheesequake) for a combo family birthday dinner (we all hit milestones this year). Overall, the cake looked good (though not like the picture) and served well. The various layers maintained their position which was good. However, I was a bit disappointed that there were so few pieces of cheesecake inside the cake - only two of us got a couple of pieces. Similarly with the oreo and chocolate pieces - unlike a real blizzard where it's mixed in, this was precisely layered and not many pieces. The cake was was mostly plain ice cream. From the description I also expected a crunch centre but I didn't taste that; just a thin layer of what I guess are oreo crumbs but they were soft and more cake-like. The fudge was a bit too sweet.

I requested chocolate ice cream rather than traditional vanilla and I was very pleased that I could have this option. I haven't had DQ ice cream in years. I expected a bit more flavor to the ice cream itself. It was more or less 'one note' and not very flavorful. Some chocolate shavings or cookie or cheesecake chunks something throughout would have been nice.

I like that even the DQ cakes could be personalized (it would have been nice to know this from the get go), however, at least with my cake, it meant that the top was plain (perhaps this could be an option - writing on the cake and no topping OR writing goes on a cookie that rests on top).

If I were to order again I would likely try a different flavor or just go with a plain ice cream cake as this didn't seem very different anyway.

Some details re: the ordering process:

Generally easy but there is a lot of clicking and you're following it blind. I checked out the site a few times before doing the ordering.

One the cake page the types of options available are shown but apparenly, not all are available for online ordering (which we don't know from the get go). An overview of the whole ordering process would be helpful early on.

When you click on a cake type, you see a few options but these aren't the full selection. You only see those after selecting one of these flavors and then putting in postal code and selecting a location. Again, somehow indicate this from the start.

Cupcakes show up as a cake option but disappear after clicking it and selecting a location. Perhaps this means that it's not available at the location I selected but that wasn't indicated earlier and should be. If availability is limited by location that should be stated and when you select an option it should indicate the locations at which it's available. it's nice that on the map they indicate which ones take online orders.

As mentioned above, I like that even blizzard cakes can be personalized, though it's unclear how that would look (e.g. if the generic version shows a certain topping, will that be removed for the writing to be added or would that be added on a cookie?).

I like the comment box after ordering where we can add requests or provide details (knowing that this would be available would have helped make selection easier). I was also able to specify date and time of pick-up. The cake was ready when I arrived and payment with the giftcard was quick and smooth.

Suggestions:

When you click on a type, that page should have a drop down menu for easy and quick access to the other types of cakes instead of requiring visitors to hit the 'back' key as many times as necessary.

'mouseover' descriptions are handy though they don't show up for all types (e.g. each torte) and they're only available on the page that shows all the cakes not when you select individual one. Because of all the options, it would be useful to be reminded of the details.

Allergies - items with nuts should be flagged (the general allergen warning is useful albeit disappointing, but still items containing nuts are different than those that may have come in contact with nuts and therefore should be noted OR, if none contain nuts, add that note in the allergen warning). I called a store to ask since 'crunch centre' wasn't defined on the website.

All cake pictures should be the same (i.e. some show a cut version so we can see the layers while others don't).

An FAQ would be handy (e.g. how long can cakes last, what kind of personalizations/requests are possible, allergens, ingredients, availability of types across locations, overview of the ordering process etc.... even though you can find this as you go along).

I recieved the gift card for product review for a free Dq Cake. I ordered online and i am a huge nhl Calgary Flames fan so I knew that was the cake I would get. The different variety of designs was great and very easy to go threw!! I ordered the cake at 3 on a Friday and I recieved a call next day saying it was ready for pick up at 4!!! Not even 24 hours... fast service!!! The only disappointment was the store near me did not have blizzard cakes that could be ordered online.. other then that fast..fabulous and yummy!!!
