I was thrilled when I was chosen to review a DQ cake and given a gift certificate for a free cake. What a treat!
I haven't had a ice cream cake in years so I was so excited to go online and find which one I wanted to get. It actually worked out perfectly that we were celebrating my mother-in-laws birthday this past weekend. I went online and decided that we'd go for a Blizzard cake. It was hard to choose because there are so many but I chose the Turtle Pecan Blizzard cake and had them write Happy Birthday ontop of the cake.
Ordering the cake was very simple. It was a easy guided process of all the decisions you'd need to make. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a 3 day time frame that'd you had to order the cake before hand. I had called the location that was closest to me (who were so helpful and nice) and they told me that I wouldn't have a problem (thankfully).
Picking up the cake was a breeze. I just had to present my gift card that was sent to me by Chickadvisor. The taste of the cake was good and everyone at the party loved it. Its such a treat to get an ice cream cake! I personally thought they were a bit skimpy on the fudge part in the centre of the cake and when you cut into the cake it separate the top and the bottom layer. But overall it was very yummy.

I was excited to be chosen to review the DQ online ordering system and, more importantly, a DQ ice cream cake. Originally, when I was chosen, I had planned on ordering my cake as a welcome home event for a family member. After much deliberation, I decided that it was a better idea to order the cake and not share it with anyone, with the exception of my boyfriend. Obviously, I was not thinking with my waistline – but still, no regrets!
I found there to be a vast amount of cake options available from the DQ location I chose (but it varies between locations) and was almost overwhelmed with making a choice! However, the online system was extremely easy to navigate, and I soon settled on a traditional DQ cake with a cute summer design. The only potential downside of the online ordering system was a 3 day wait time between ordering and availability of the cake.
Picking up the cake was very simple – but the cashier requested my order form/receipt, which I had not printed (no instructions to do so). The situation was easily resolved, but for future reference, you may want to bring confirmation of your order with you to the store.
The cake itself was totally delicious but also, it’s ice cream so it’s hard to be terrible! I did find our cake was a little bit messy – the middle layer was missing some of the fudge that would have held it all together, and we barely had any chocolate. I’m confident that any shortcomings in the actual cake were related directly to the location I chose, and we still devoured it, so I am confident that I will order again from DQ, and most likely through the online ordering system as long as I have time. I would absolutely love to try to a Blizzard cake in the future!
Received a SKOR blizzard cake for my birthday. YUM!!!! So good. Hoping for one again next year.

I haven't had a Dairy Queen cake in a few years, so I was pretty excited to have an opportunity to test one out. I have never had one of their Blizzard cakes (usually we get just a traditional one), so I opted to try one this time. I chose the Crispy Crunch blizzard cake and it was soooo good! It also looked great, which was an added bonus.
I really appreciated the online ordering system. I really don't like having to phone in orders, so am always looking for companies that offer an online ordering option. The online ordering process was very easy and quick. The selection was also pretty good. I would have loved to see a Hawaiian blizzard cake since that is my absolute favorite blizzard flavor (also since the only "fruity" option was the cheesecake one and I usually go for fruity cakes over chocolatey ones).
In store pick up was great. The girls working knew exactly the order I was there to pick up and I was in and out in a bout 2 min. Very impressed.
I would definitely consider ordering from DQ again and would recommend the online ordering process to anyone!

I was thrilled to test out the DQCakes.com website. I've browsed on there before, but haven't ever ordered from it. The process is so simple, I would definitely order through there again. All you have to do is select your local store, pick what cake you'd like, enter your information, and you're good to go. The cake will be ready in 2 days (or longer if you've selected a later pick-up time).
There is definitely a huge selection of cakes, especially when you look at all the designs available for their traditional cakes. I think almost anyone, from little kid to adult, could find a picture or design that would appeal to them. I decided to order a Blizzard cake, as the special flavours really appealed to me.
I ordered the 10" round Turtle Brownie Blizzard Cake as an early birthday present for myself. The taste was really delicious, though the "turtle" part was quite subtle, depending on what piece you had. The presentation of the cake was gorgeous, and the quality was good. Everyone who had a piece said they really enjoyed it.
A Blizzard cake is definitely something I would order again, though I think I would try a different flavour, just because there are so many to choose from, and they all sound great.
Ordered traditional cake - oreo variety. Ordered online however, called store & one was available at the store so went and picked up. Girl offered to write whatever on the cake for me at no additional charge.
Cashier was pleasant & helpful. Quality of the cake was great - nothing compares to Dairy Queen ice cream!
I love DQ Blizzard cakes! They have great combinations: Banana cream pie; Choco cherry love; Chocolate Xtreme; Cookie dough; Crispy crunch; French silk pie; Georgia mud fudge; and so much more...
I usually go for the oreo one, and it never last for long unfortunately
The only 2 downsides are: It is hard to find the perfect moment to cut it because the middle is pretty hard but if you wait too long the rest melts.
Also I feel that the bottom part and the cream on top and sides lack of some extra flavour. Still I love this cake
For an ice cream cake for a kids birthday party I would recommend DQ's cakes all the way!!
I have had a DQ ice cream cake once for my birthday that my BFF bought me but it was like 3 or 4 yrs ago and it was really good. It had chocolate and some crunchy stuff layered in it. I haven't tried them lately so if I was chosen to review a custom made free one I would really like that. I love mint Oreo so I think that would have that in mine. Here is a pic of my cake from a few yrs back..
I am a big fan of Dairy Queen Cakes - they have put the "ICE CREAM" in Ice Cream Cakes! The fudgy cookie layer in the middle pales in comparson to other ice cream cakes! It is at the top of my list for Cakes and the idea of building your own is fabulous!
