All bread no filling!
I bought these on sale, as i do like their pizzas. These were so dry and tasteless i was very shocked. Even with the sauce it’s like dipping bread in tomato sauce. Way to drop the ball, i will never buy these again. Other pizza pockets out there are way way way better and cheaper too. You know the brands. Hard pass on these if your fortunate to read the reviews first unlike me.
Calzones!!
Not gunna lie I was really nervous to purchase this product, but it was on sale so I thought I’d give it a try!
These were actually amazing I put it in the oven and I’ve bought them at least once a month from then on.
If you haven’t tried them I definitely recommend you do.
Terrible
These calzones were so dry. They had too much breading and not enough filling. We used the marinara sauce that comes with them and that didn't help at all and didn't have any flavour. We were excited to try these and they were a huge disappointment.
All shell no cheese
To echo the other reviews on this site, while I was expecting these to be bad, I was stunned at how awful a product it actually was. No cooking instructions (for the oven), so the shell came out hard and difficult to cut through, and the fillings were both non-existent and gross. As far as I could tell, the "Deluxe" contained two slices of olives and three chunks of indecipherable meat in a tablespoon of tomato sauce, and absolutely zero cheese as far as I could tell. Sub-Pizza Pops quality for twice the price. Disgusting.
Lots of dough
I graciously received a coupon from Delissio to try the cheese calzones. They come in a box of two and are quite a substantial size. Not inexpensive either. I found them to be very dough/bread heavy and short on filling. I will not buy them again.
Absolutely terrible
There are so many things wrong with this product. The cooking time for the calzone is excessive. It was hard as a rock to cut into. There was basically no fillings except for a weird tasting sauce. Cheese was non existent and the pepperoni did not resemble pepperoni.
I won’t be buying again
I was excited to see these at the grocery store as my husband and I love calzones. Once cooked we were thoroughly disappointed. There was only a small amount of filling in both calzones and way to much crust. When we cut into them both weren’t even halfway full of filling. We felt like we ate a meal of pizza crust. We won’t be buying again
Better then a pizza pocket
I bought this product to try out as my kids
(23-6) love pizza pockets but eat many in one sitting to feel full.
We cooked the first one in the microwave as per the instructions. When we went to flip it over , the calzone opened at the seam and the contents fell out( still frozen)
Put back in and continued the process.
Once done, the toppings were still cold so put back in again which made the calzone crust become tough.
The other we cooked in the oven,it came out better.
Paying for a hollow shell
I was actually excited to see these, but I just ate one... Well I ate 3 pieces of the meat and whatever that "sauce" inside it is.
It would be accurate to say 2/3 of it is hallow and you either end up eating hallow shell to get to what little filling there is, or you eat the side that has the filling and throw the rest away.
This stuff is absolute disappointing garbage and I only ate what I did of it out of obligation of the time it took to cook. Tastes terrible. Yuck!
P.S. I never take time to write reviews on food, but this was just an insult to all things pizza. It just had to be said.
Disgusting, Avoid These
I bought these frozen calzones to have as a treat as it’s much cheaper than buying from pizza restaurant. I was looking forward to trying them but I was really disappointed. To start, they are really quick and easy to cook in the oven but they tasted awful. The dough got rock hard after cooking that I could barely cut through. The taste and texture of the dough was gross once I got through the hard bits. I don’t even know how to describe the texture except that it was no where near chewy and fluffy like normal dough. There was absolutely no cheese inside and I think I was able to find one or two pieces of each meat. Was all sauce and soggy inside instead. I gave it another chance the next day with the second calzone and cooked it less time to avoid the hard outside but couldn’t get over the taste. I would have had a better meal with a pizza pocket.
