This book was brilliant! Prior to this, the shining, had been one of my favourite king books. This jumped right up there. Straight from the beginning you don't want to put it down

I love Stephen King, he is the master of horror thrillers! I read and watch anything that he comes out with. I loved this book and the characters. I loved the Shining and Danny, who was a small boy with very powerful powers. This book picks up on that and it is so intriguing.

i have read every one of #StephenKings Books. the are always very creepy and scary and this book #DoctorSleep is just as good. But this book is a little different it much more like a thriller than a horror move. It is a book about a haunted house and it is also sequel to the book #TheShinning. It picks up as Danny as a grown up who still has his psychic powers. Very interesting story line. If you liked #TheShinning than I am sure you will like this.

Very few sequels in the horror genre are as good as Dr sleep was to the shinning, I was disappointed that the story didn't take the turn I was expecting, but at the same time as pleasantly surprised when Danny ran into some of my favorite characters from other stories. Alough it did change my opinion of rest stops and even parks...just saying lol.

I have been reading Stephen King since I was about 9 I believe? I read IT when I was ten, after thieving it from my dad's shelf. I grew up with an older brother (by almost 7 years) and father who were addicted to all things horror and also inherited my dad's love of reading. I have read nearly everything he has put out (which is a LOT, to say the least) and have LOVED some, and haven't been able to finish others because I just did not enjoy them. The Shining was a LOVE read for me. One of my favourite novels (and not just by Stephen King, I mean favourite novels in general) and was so badly interpreted as a movie. I re-read the Shining every now and then and enjoy it every time. When I found out King was releasing Doctor Sleep, which would pick up with Danny now an adult, I was absolutely beyond excited. I ended up reading it in about a day an a half, and it was definitely a terrific read. It didn't quite live up to the Shining, but I don't believe it was meant to. It was like an unofficial sequel. It was terrifically paced, had beautiful character building and really paid tribute to some elements in the Shining, including Danny's father, Jack. It had almost nothing to do with the Overlook, so don't expect that going in. It was centered around a little girl, and has some new supernatural antagonists, but very little to do with hauntings and ghosts. In the end, I really appreciated the tying up of some loose ends, and getting to know where Danny ended up in life, and it was a wonderful read for King.

Great story that picks up with the characters from The Shining. Answers some of the questions about what would happen to them in the future. If you are a King fan, you will find yourself wrapped in the warm familiar comfort of an old friend. Even if you've never read any, you will still enjoy the ride.
