100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
i sweat a lot. and my doctor recommended this. i wish i had discovered this product along time ago. i have tried almost everything else, and was looking into getting my sweat glands removed. i use this a few times a week just before bed and then use a natural deodorant in the morning. i have to be very careful not to apply too much or to not use it the day i shave, otherwise it burns and causes a rash and my skin to peel. but when used properly it its a miracle! and the bottle lasts forever!
As many of the other reviewers have mentioned, this product is a life changer. I recommend this product to anyone who is worried about sweating - whether it is a slight problem or a bigger one.
Throughout middle school i had a problem with sweating under my arms. I had tried pretty much every deodorant/antiperspirant on the market. After feeling down and hopeless, I went to a dermatologist who recommended i try Drysol. As soon as i started using it, the sweating was gone and i could go back to living my life the way a middle school-er should. I no longer had to worry about marks on my shirt or obsess over whether people could tell. I could wear what i wanted and finally felt free. Now, I don't even really need to use Drysol anymore, but still use it sometimes during the hot summer days.
The product itself is very easy to use. Just dab a bit on at night and you're good to go for the next day. Definitely, as the product says, DO NOT use it on recently shaved skin. On the reverse, DON'T shave right after you have applied it either, my friend got a serious rash after doing this. I personally also didn't need to use it every night as suggested. I found if i used it daily my skin became irritated. Although it takes care of wetness, it doesn't particularly take care of odour. I recommend you still use a deodorant with this product to keep you smelling fresh.
My first job at 16 was cleaning hotel rooms in a tight, light green short sleeved polyester shirt. I sweat so badly that I used to line the armpits with Always Thins Maxi Pads, the ones with wings because they covered more material. Then I tried cardigans, I had a cardigan for everything I wore to cover my pits, I planned my whole wardrobe around what didn't show sweat.
I read about Drysol in a Dear Abby column (I kid you not, this was about '94, way before Google) and IT CHANGED EVERYTHING. I wish it was mandatory teaching in school health class. If you have a problem that laughs at Secret or Degree Clinical, ask the pharmacy counter people for Drysol.
Thanks again Abby!!!!
This product is life-changing. I went to the doctor and this is what he prescribed.
Putting it on is.. interesting. You dab it in about 3 locations or so under your armpit. If you dab it too much, you may get a rash, but I didn't even mind the rash, as the product did as it was supposed to do- stop the excessive sweating.
I used to sweat in buckets. I would wear black usually, because the sweat puddles would be gigantic. One day I made the mistake of wearing a pastel-blue long sleeved top in grade 8, and the puddles leaked all the way to where even if I had my arms down, you could see them. I would rarely raise my arm in class, and if I did, I kept my armpit closed and just lifted my hand to my face-area. I bought specific clothing, and avoided others, during this difficult time in my life. I tried so many kinds of deodorant, I thought I was hopeless.
Then I met drysol. I only used it for about a year or so and the sweat problem was completely gone. I went from every night, to every other night, til about 2 weeks in, I stopped using it entirely. Then I would only use it if I noticed I had an off-day. Then after using it once a month, maybe once every two months, I stopped using it completely. One bottle lasted my whole life (it's expired now, but I am 99% sure I wont need to buy another one).
I reccommend this to anyone faced with excess sweating. I've dreamt of doing commercials for Drysol, as it is the only miracle product I have ever used in my life. You will NOT be disappointed.
DRYSOL CHANGED MY LIFE. I had a serious pit-stain problem in my mid teens and I discovered Drysol never soon enough. This product is amazing and truly one that has changed the way I carry myself. I used to get the underarm sweats so bad I'd wear big, thick layers in all seasons hoping and praying it wouldn't seep through and reveal my secret. Normal antiperspirants were useless; I might aswell have been just giving my armpits a once-over with a cotton ball dampened with water. I promise you can have faith in this product, and if you can't you really need to see a doctor for a more drastic solution as this is the strongest non-prescription antiperspirant on the market.
The application is not pleasant, but it is worth it. You must apply it at bedtime (try to put it on as soon as possible before actually falling asleep so you can be asleep when it starts to work) because the product needs to seep into your sweat glands and do it's job over a good, generous portion of time. Why do I recommend you sleep through this as much as possible? It ITCHES. Careful not to overapply, a very thin layer will do, and the dab with the attachable applicator is the best for well-controlled application. Wear a top that is very breathable or sleep topless, and be warned, the product may discolour some clothing. Don't apply it over any leftover antiperspirant, put it on clean pits. NEVER apply it too soon after shaving or, god forbid, waxing. The first few applications will the be the worst as far as itch goes, but it gradually subsides. You only need to apply this product for three consecutive days initially, I find. If you're like me at all, after those few days you should be able to skip a day at a time between applications until you only need to use it once every couple of months.
Although your perspiration at the point of application will be reduced to almost nothing, you still have a great breeding ground for stinky bacteria on your underarm skin so DO use a little bit of deodorant or light antiperspirant, scented if you like. Don't overapply though, you don't want to further irritate or dry out that skin. Be sure to wash the areas where product was applied the morning after application, it gets the excess off your skin. This product, if used properly and as needed, can stop sweat from just about anywhere (provided the skin isn't too delicate) but most recommended are palms and underarms. And YES, this product will help to eventually eradicate the problem! I hardly think about sweat anymore, and I feel so much more freedom in being able to wear t-shirts again without a sweater.
There have been some concerns (from my dad, don't freak out) that this product is unhealthy, but the results have been worth the minimal risk and I have had zero problems with it in the five years I've been owning a bottle. One bottle lasts about half a year. I've recommended this product to people I've met who've disclosed their hyperhidrosis* to me, including my own boyfriend, and everyone who's tried it loves it. Be strong through the initial inconveniences, the results will floor you!
*Hyperhidrosis is a non-harmful condition that encourages excessive and often inexplicable perspiration.
