I have never used a foundation brush before, but this one was recommended by a friend, a for only a dollar I thought I would try it. I was pleasantly surprised. I love using a brush so much more than my fingers, and this was brush is really soft and a pretty good quality.
I feel like this brush is too thin to be an effective foundation brush, but I love using it with powder to set my under eye concealer. I also have a second one to contour my nose, and with a darker contour color on the hollows of my cheeks before putting on my normal bronzer/blush. For $1 I feel like it works really well for those uses :)
I bought this brush and a few others from the elf essential line when i first got into makeup.
i didn't like it as a foundation brush because it was a bit too stiff and i had to blend the product with my fingers instead. I did find ways to use it after a while, used it to apply liquid concealer or put on my Garnier moisturizer.
so it just depends on what you use it for i guess. ♥
I bought this brush as a newbie to makeup and brushes but even a newbie can tell that this brush is horrible. It streaked my foundation and the bristles were so hard it felt like plastic. So I felt as if I had bought a cheap paintbrush. It broke after 3 uses.
I ordered a set of the cheaper brushes that ELF has to offer, not really sure what I was supposed to do with them all. I had never used a foundation brush before and the thought of it scared me to bits. I had visions of painting in kindergarten, you remember the brush all loose and awkward in your hands, paint everywhere and your picture just dripping with wet paint. Now picture that on your face and you will understand my fear.
The brush was lightweight, and very easy to use, it was kind of like painting my face, however I got used to it pretty quick. Now, I can't remember how I ever put my makeup on without it.
If you are like me and nervous to try, I would recommend trying this, the price is right and I think it is well worth the money. IMHO.
If you're just starting to buy makeup brushes, this one is great. While it doesn't have TONS of bristles like more expensive foundation brushes, it has enough to get the job done. They feel soft, not scratchy, and the brush has stood up to repeated washings without any problems. It's a really good brush, worth way more than the $1 you pay. No, it doesn't look super fancy, but it's a good basic brush. I would absolutely repurchase it. I also like using this brush to pat on cream blush!
