Wearing it today
This eyeshadow palette is totally worth it! First of all, it's very affordable, one of the greatest things about ELF. I hadn't used it lately and today i saw it in my makeup bin and decided to use it. My eyes turned out good. The only problem I have is there doesn't seem to be many choices; it's all basically browns that are super similar but it still does a great job.
not impressed.
I really like ELF but I didn't like this palette at all.
I don't know if it's because it's matte, but this product didn't blend or give me any sort of color whatsoever.
not impressed.
Nice palette
I really like elf make. Now they come with very nice shades of palette which is blendable with nice pigmentation in afforadable price. I highly recommend this palette.
Mediocre Palette
For anyone who is just starting to get comfortable with makeup, I would say this is a good starter palette. It has all the colours you need to create a basic matte eye look. Unfortunately, I do find it to be patchy when applying the eyeshadow (even when using a primer and setting it) and it can take a lot of work in order to get it blended out perfectly. Additionally, it doesn't stay on all day.
Great matte palette for cheap
This is an amazing nude palette for an equally amazing price! It's great for adding definition and depth if you're afraid to go too bold, or if the setting doesn't really permit it. Shades are very versatile and super pigmented! Some of the colours are also great for filling in your brows without making them look like they were painted on.
Wow!
I've been using this eyeshadow palette for almost a year now and wow! I've hit pan on a few colours so far and I believe the quality is impeccable for the cost ($10 CAD!) the colours blend beautifully and don't fade quickly. If you're looking for some good mattes on a budget this is the perfect find!
Love It
This product is honestly one of the best drugstore eyeshadow palettes out there. The formula itself is super blendable and pretty pigmented and versatile for its price. The formula and the shades are very comparable to high end matte eyeshadow palettes like tarte. It's also a great travel palette because it has a variety of warm, cool, light, and dark shades for different makeup looks. I have a medium to deep skin tone and even the brown shadows that are very similar to my skin tone showed up really pigmented on the eyes. The pigmentation is not extreme, but is great because it's buildable. I find that the product applies best using an eyeshadow brush because the finger swatches do not show its full potential. You also get quite a bit of product in the palette. I would definitely repurchase this product and would 100% recommend it to any makeup lover out there who wants to look good on a budget!
This was my first eyeshadow palette ever and I feel like it was a good start. Now that I have tried other shadows from other brands, my opinion of it still hasn't worsened too much. It's still a very functional, usable palette, still the only completely matte palette that I own, I'd be quite in a pickle without it. In terms of the looks it gives good pigmentation, I can totally say that it can rival higher priced eyeshadow, and it wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration. The most note worthy thing about the shadows in this palette is they are completely matte. No shimmer, no sheen, no satin, just matte. Compare to NYX matte eyeshadows for example, they always have a slight satin look to them, whereas elf mattes look totally flat, when the light hits them, there's nothing to reflect back. However that's also its problem. While they look good, the experience of applying them isn't the most satisfying. The shadows feel dry, not all of them are chalky dry, but they feel noticeably drier than matte shadows from other brands. Whenever I touch them with a finger or a brush then tap it off, even just lightly, they kick up a powder storm. Some eyeshadows do kick up powder but they hold together and also hold on to the brush well, and I'm not always at risk of inhaling my eyeshadows rather than applying them to my eyes. Luckily, I have never had issue with fallout. I guess we can't have shadows that look matte - aka dry - without the shadows themselves being dry.
The most underwhelming shades for me are the two lightest shades - the pink and the cream - and the two cool toned shades - the grey and the "black"; on either sides of the palette. They are good enough to blend out the edges of the look with though. The "black" shade is not a very pigmented black, it's more like a very greyish one, it's super dry and chalky, very difficult to pick up and doesn't give much impact when applied. It frustrates me so much that it was the main reason why I decided to branch out and buy more palettes just to find a good matte black. The rest of them are nice, workable without me trying too hard, they're great for everyday looks, very neutral, very natural. Frankly it's kinda hard to get a very dramatic look out of them without pulling in shadows from other palettes. Lasting power without a primer is 1 hour, 2 hours and they creased & blended altogether into a brown smudge. I don't blame them, my lids are oily, hooded monolids, nothing lasts without a primer and a good mattifying powder on top which helps lasting power for 6-8 hours easily with minor fading.
For the price the product is worth it but the colours in the palette aren't very bendable and aren't very creamy. The product smells of chemicals and the colours are not pigmented. Although the these are not the most desirable qualities the palette is only 9$ and is great for an easy everyday beginner look. I would recommend for beginners who want to learn and experiment with eyeshadows.
I normally don't use drug store eyeshadow as i find they crease easily and wear off. But I grabbed this palette on a whim to try it out and I was pleasantly surprised! I normally use the naked palette by urban decay so I was drawn towards this palette due to the natural brown shades. The formula is definitely matte and applies very easily and is well pigmented. I do wish this came with a shimmery highlighter shade. I also find a couple of the brown shades have a very red undertone. But other then that I'm pleased with the palette. Great price as well!
