Love the color, wish it stayed longer
I absolutely love the color and the easy of application, glides on smooth with precision. The color doesn't last long and transfers easily (kisses and coffee cups) I will continue to wear and reapply because you can't beat the price!
Easy to find and works well
This product is easy to find and does the job, however it doesn't last super long. you have to re apply every few hours. But for $4 or less a piece? no biggie.
I would reccomend it
This product is a good basic matte lipstick. The product stays on well and rarely cracks. Lip-liner is definitely needed, however. I'd say this product useful for everyday wear and tint.
I own these in every color. I love them. Tea rose is my fave. The color pay off is great and they really stay all day. The only downside is that they are pretty drying, and kind of taste chemically. Other than that, they are great!
This review is for the velvet matte lipstick from elf. Currently these appear to be online only. I own all the colors, and formula varies across all the shades. I find that the darker ones have a more matte formula (ie. ruby red, deep burgundy, berry bordeaux, vampy violet). As with most darker matte lipsticks, vampy violet does apply patchy, however this is easily fixable. This is the only one with that problem though. These are very pigmented and dry down to a matte finish. None of the colors have shimmer. These have no noticeable scent added to them, they have a chemical scent like other regular lipsticks. Out of all 9 that I have, one has already broken on me. (fuschia fantasy) so for $3USD, there appears to be some quality tradeoffs. Once these set, they are quite long lasting, and require makeup remover to remove. As they are matte, they may dry out your lips, however not as much as a nyx lip suede. After they set, these are not sticky, and true to the name, have a velvet finish. The only downside is that these are online only. if you can find this, its highly recommended.
This lipstick has a slight cinnamon taste, which I enjoy. The strongly pigmented colour Berry Bordeaux goes on well and looks good on my pale complexion. I’ve worn it also without ELF's plumper, for more of a matte look. Some touch up’s were needed after eating. A bit of colour remained at the end of the day, which comes off with makeup remover. Nice to see that the bottom of the lipstick isn’t just the colour being displayed, it pops off to reveal a secret lip balm! Kudos to e.l.f. for adding this extra feature! $3 is a very reasonable price for lipstick.
