It stays on nicely.

I always do my own nails. I love finding inexpensive brands that do a great job of coverage. I normally like to do 2 coats and sometimes a top coat. In order to get a good amount of coverage, you need 3 coats and maybe a bit thicker than you normally would. That’s why I gave it 3 stars. It’s quite possible that it’s the light colour, I think it is a quality brand.

Looks great but doesn’t stay on

I love the colour. It covers well but it flakes off quickly. I often wash my hands and with all the sanitation stations around us today, the nail enamel flakes off quickly.

Just like regular nail polish

I found this to be expensive due to buying the clear coat as well as the color polish. I bought this due to a up coming wedding and I painted my nails the day before. The next day after work they were all chipped, so it didn't last long.

Bumpy look

I have tried 2 red shades of this nail polish: Drop the Gown and Rock the Runway. With both I noticed that they chip within 2-3 days. They glide on the nail smoothly and do not take too ling to dry. The Drop the Gown ( cherry red) shade did have tiny bubbles on my nails, each finger. It was still visible after applying a second coat, and a top coat. I applied a thin layer and still got the same results.

Chip very fast

After hearing all they hype about gel nail polish I bought this brand. Let’s say it doesn’t stay on any longer then a regular nail polish. Maybe if you don’t do much housework or cleaning it may last. But having kids and constantly washing something they come off!! For teens I would recommend. Colors are cute. So far the best nude color I have found in nail polish came from Essie.

Beautiful, but not as long-wearing as advertised

Recently I tried the Essie Gel Couture polish in Gala-Vanting with the Gel Couture top coat. Although I love the beautiful shine and the curved brush that makes application quick and easy, I found that the polish took very long to dry and did not last much longer than Essie's regular polishes. After about 4 days of wear, it began wearing down at the tips of my nails, and I started noticing peeling/chips at the edge of the polish after about 5-6 days of wear. My hands were in water a lot due to showering and cleaning but the polish didn't hold up much better than any regular essie polish, so I don't see justification for the price difference of about $4 more. I bought the polish to try it out on sale so I might consider purchasing it again on sale, but not at the regular price.

I like the gel couture better than regular nail polish because I find the shine beautiful and it does look like a shellac manicure , dries very fast compare to regular nail polish. My only complaint is it doesn't last any longer than regular nail polish .. I can get about 4-5 days before it starts chipping.

No better than regular polish

This set contains a nail polish and a topcoat, which are meant to give the appearance of a gel manicure. They are also supposed to provide the longevity of a gel manicure, without the need for a curing light or the difficult removal process. The color I received, Beau-Tie, is a pretty deep purple creme. It looks quite blue-leaning in the bottle, but is actually much warmer on the nail. In any case, the color was pretty, and the polish did look nice on my nails. The instructions say to use the polish on bare nails (no base coat), do two coats, and follow with a coat of topper. I did this, and I did have a nice, shiny manicure. The shine was obvious, but I'm not convinced that it's anything exclusive to Essie. There are other topcoats that will give you a similar appearance. This polish definitely did not last the two weeks that the package claimed it would. I found it lasted for about as long as any other polish when worn with a good topcoat- about four days. The bigger issue, for me, is that without a base coat, my nails were in rough shape when this polish started chipping and I removed it. They've been weak, peeling, and splitting. The result is that I won't be wearing this without base coat again. The bigger takeaway is that I don't find this to be fundamentally different from other nail polishes. The "gel couture" business seems like a gimmick. Also, I'm accustomed to using a quick dry topcoat, and this one takes much longer. Be advised!

Not a fan

I recently went to the salon and got my nails painted by my friend. The essie gel couture nail polish was just all wrong. It doesn't matter if you thin or thick layer it on it still came off 2 days later.
