It's OK
I really wanted to like this product. The reviews suggest this is THE product for oily skin, Two hours after I apply an base products I shine like a lighthouse on a new moon night - primer, no primer, powder, no powder, setting spray, no setting spray. You name it I've tried the combinations.
I've tried EL double wear foundation for a full year now - through our dry winters and humid summers. The product has more coverage than I am comfortable with. I prefer a sheer to medium coverage product - I want my skin to look like my skin. But after 35 years of wearing make up I've learnt to sheer products out by using a small amount and buffing that small amount over my face, or diluting it with my sunscreen or moisturiser.
Why I like it? The product goes on and looks beautiful, and if I use a pea size amount and buff it into my skin, then a little goes a very long way - resulting in my skin only better. It doesn't transfer onto clothes so I can wear white with confidence. It doesn't oxidise nor break down when my oils come through.
Why I dislike it? I am oily after 3-4 hours of applying this foundation. Not just a little bit - but full on lighthouse beaming oily - irrespective of the season, and irrespective if I use sparingly (preferred) or generously (i.e. a medium to full coverage look). Blotting keeps the oils under control, but this needs to be done every hour after the oils come through - so after a full year of trying different ways and combinations of using the product - I've abandoned it. I now use it exclusively if I'm going somewhere in the evening and I don't need my foundation to last too long. Its a good product - but its not the amazing perfection for oily skin that it is touted to be.
My everyday but not as good as it used to be
I have used this product since my teens when I was trying out different types. Recently the formula changed, I still wear it but it's not as effective as it used to be. Long time user.
Change of opinion
This used to be my go to product that I honestly couldn’t live without
I honestly don’t know if it’s because I’ve got older and my skin has changed or whether the product isn’t what it used to be
I’ve been using this since I was 19 and I’m now 33. I stopped using it approx 3 years ago as I found that it stuck to my skin and showed every single spot or wrinkle. It also made my skin look really dry - even after my daily skin routine.
The good things about this is that it does have good coverage and it does also stay put all day, with the added bonus of SPF for them sunny days
It is just okay
I read so many good reviews about this product and was very excited to try it . However I did not like this foundation. I have normal to dry skin, so I found that my foundation did not blend into my skin. It was too thick and dry for me. I could see white patches around my mouth area.
Cakey and not good for fine lines
As mentioned in the title, this foundation is not good for anyone with fine lines. I'm only 23 but I get lines around my nose and mouth - this made them stand out more and look dry and horrible.
I actually took it off before I had the chance to test how long it lasted, so I can't vouch for that. It does cover up imperfections such as spots or discoloration, but now I'm using the remainder of my sample carefully - only putting it on certain areas and blending it out, rather than the whole of my face
Average.
For the price I paid for this and all the hype around it, I was shocked at my results with it. It fell into my pores even with a primer and if I didn’t set it well enough it creased into every line I had, and some i didn’t know I had. It increased the look of my pores as well. Wet n wild is a a dupe for this. But in a better way. Like wth did a 7 dollar foundation do it better than a 50 dollar one. Just goes to show, the drugstore brands are coming up better than the high end ones Some times.
Flashback!
I bought this foundation because of all the great reviews I was seeing. Sadly, it did not work for me. It gave my insane flashback in pictures ans did provide the coverage I was looking for on my acne scars.
Meh wouldn't buy again.
This is a foundation that is always raved about for oily skin. Which for oily skin I would recommend, but for the price of this product you don't get much in the bottle, maybe 10 wears. The colour of this product also oxidizes extremely darker/ pinker then it shows on your hand at first glance or in the bottle. I just over all did like the look of this foundation mostly a problem with the colour even the lightest shade was to pink for me.
It is a good product for oily skin. it helps you from getting shiny very quickly. the only downside is that it feels super heavy on your face. it gets dry very quickly.
This foundation is really high coverage and matte so it is definitely not for everyday use. I barely ever break out but I noticed a pimple here and there every single time I wore this foundation. It might be ok for night wear but definitely not for someone who wants natural, everyday makeup.
