With a handle, a non-slip bottom, and two slots to use, this knife sharpener is an easy to use, no hassle product. I was initially afraid that I had damaged one of the sharpeners as it made black marks on it but it doesn't look like it affects its usability and I can only hope that that part doesn't wear down too soon (the coarser slot didn't have that problem).
This product was confusing at first, but not because of how to use it. Even without the manual it's simple to figure out - drag a non-serrated blade through one of the slots (one fine and the other coarse) in order to sharpen your knives. I tested it out on a few of my steak knives and couldn't tell if it was working (mostly since I didn't have problems using them). I was trying to determine its effectiveness simply by sight as some of the knives weren't a straight as straight could be, but after trying some other knives I learned that it didn't matter whether my blades retained their original shape or not. Once I tried it on all my chef knives - especially one specific one that had lost its ability to be useful in the kitchen - I was able to see that the product did make a difference (though don't expect it to perform like other, better options).
I don't expect the product to perform miracles, but for what it does the price point is alright. Don't expect to be wowed, like I did, in trying to sharpen still good knives - you'll see the difference with the knives that need some care but aren't too far gone.
