Go-to foundation
After hearing all of the rave on Rihanna's new makeup collection, I had to give it a go myself. Especially when hearing that she has a wide variety of shades. Being a tanned skin girl, it has always been hard for myself to find the right colour foundation with the right formula. I have dealt with horrible skin through high school that has left scars that I am insecure about. This foundation has great coverage and is priced fairly. I have tried multiple foundations and this one seems to be my go-to. I have received countless compliments on how good my skin looks. I recommend it to all of my friends with oily to oily-combination skins!
All the colours!
Finally a foundation that carries an olive-toned colour. Has a nice matte finish, stays on all day and is $10 cheaper than the foundation I was purchasing prior
If you're oily/combo this is a dream
My skin warms up within 15 minutes or so of applying foundation. Once that happens the matte effect looks more natural. Even immediately the matte formula is matte in texture but still has a natural sheen so you don't look flatte/chalky.. and still glowy. But as an oily girl after about 6 hours of wear, I blotted with a Clean & Clear blotting paper and my skin HONESTLY LOOKED THE SAME AS IF I HAD JUST PUT IT ON. That is very rare for oily skin types! Normally it breaks up, the pores become more visible, etc. But this? No it was FLAWLESS.
Love it!
When I first got this I wasn't 100% satisfied. The consistency is really thin and dries quickly so took a bit to get the hang of how you apply it, but once I got that down I love it! It has great coverage and lasts all day without feeling heavy. The range of colours are pretty extensive, I normally just use the lightest one but I was 2 shades up. It's reasonably priced for a high end foundation, defiantly recommend.
Average
I bought the new Fenty foundation in 120 to try, given all the hype. Yes, this foundation does have great coverage (medium I found) however, it dries sooo super fast that it makes it harder to apply evenly and flawlessly. I had to do sections of my face at a time and blend with my sponge very quickly. Because it dries so fast, and dries to a powdery finish, it makes it difficult yo blend in your concealer and contour. I found that the coverage didn't last long (I wore it for 8 hours and by the end, a lot of my redness and acne was showing through)
LOVE IT
Amazing coverage, matched my color, been searching for 5 years for one. Doesnt feel like youre wearing make up at all. Makes you look Flawless, but is not good for those with texture. Good at covering up redness and discoloration.
NEW Fenty Beauty Foundation
It has always been difficult to find a foundation that is my shade with my undertone (medium-dark with a yellow undertone). I tried this product as soon as it came out and I was amazed. I found my shade instantly and it lasted all day. Not only is it long lasting but it also provides a great amount of coverage. AND you are getting more product for less money than an average high-end foundation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Unforgiving on textured skin but great shade range
The shade range is impressive and if you have oily, smooth skin this will look incredible on you. However, if you have texture or fine lines, it will exaggerate those spots even with prep. It dries quickly so you'll need to move fast. It really does look simply beautiful on any of the spots without texture. It does oxidize a bit darker once it dries. I have the shade 130 which is fair yellow-olive, which is quite rare to come across (similar shades are KVD 43 and Nars Gobi). It doesn't last as long as some other long wearing foundations (Estee Lauder Double Wear and Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion will outlast this still) but it does a very good job still. It does not fade gracefully, however.
Not for Dry or Combination skin
I want to start by saying Matte formulas and my skin almost never work out. I have acne prone combination skin and that mix with matte just doesn't seem to be pretty. The patch above on my hand has no primer but I did use the new Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer on my face under this. You can see though right away that it's the wrong colour but also just bringing out every flaw and pore I have. I tried the foundation with both a beauty blender and a brush and I will say it preformed nicer for me with a sponge; though I've heard many people say a brush was better for them.
The coverage is a bit more like light to medium depending on how you put it on but never full coverage (i didn't try layering it but also I dont want to wear to layers of foundation). I will say it was surprising light feeling on the skin. It felt great I wish all foundations felt like that on the skin. I will also agree with it being long wear as it did last most of the day. However that where they lose me completely. At the end of the day my skin felt TERRIBLE.
As you can see from the pictures above the Foundation lasted on my skin throughout the day fairly well but it just kept getting heavier and heavier looking. At the end of the day My face started looking like an acne filled snake. I had to do heavy cleansing to get it out of my pores and I still ended up with acne I'm still trying to give rid of over a week later now.
I also used the blotting powder on my forehead throughout the day (I have bangs) and I now have acne on my forehead which is pretty rare for me. I Just over all wasn't thrilled with either products and I didn't want want to test the powder on a different foundation because I already had enough acne after this. Also, the blotting powder was also WAY over priced in my opinion. So I returned both these products to Sephora.
Overall, I really wanted to love this foundation because I love Rihanna and I love how inclusive this brand is but It just didn't work for me. I hope that in the future she will come out with a non-matte formula that might suit me a bit more!
