Fifty Shades of Grey Reviews
#6 in Books

Description

This book traces the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey. It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism.

I read all three of the books in this series, I needed to know what all the hype was about these novels when they first came out. While the first book was somewhat interesting it all went down hill from there. The third book I almost could not even finish, it just failed to draw me in at all into the story line. I can see why people are so fascinated by the story line but truly there are more expectational books in this genre that will certainly leave you wanting more

Shamefully I read all these books in one week. I say shamefully not because of it's content, but because it is written so poorly and I pride myself on being someone who reads classic books by authors who really have something to say...with that said, I enjoyed these book ;)

STUPID, STUPID BOOK. I mean, I can get off with way better erotica, and this is so horribly written, that I am wondering at what literacy level the lovers of this book are at.

I enjoyed reading fifty shades. Another easy read for me. Its nice to read a book and just forget about the real world for an hour. It shows that there life isn't perfect and no ones ever is. And some people have secrets that not everyone knows about. And that's ok!!!

I read the 3 books from the series and i liked it. The movie of it.. Not so much. The way I experienced the book while reading it seemed more interesting with the extra details.

I love the story and ended up skipping over the sex scenes just to get on with the character development

I read half of the first book and it's the stupidest, cheesiest, creepiest thing ever. It's only cool because he is a rich guy, if he was broke it would be a criminal minds episode or something like that, I don't understand the hype at all.

Seriously obsessed with this series. I've read all 3 books at least 20 times. Can't get enough of it.

Christian Grey is a stalker. He immediately becomes possessive of Ana - before they're even a couple. His manipulation/intimidation of Ana begins right on their first date. He takes her back to his hotel when she's too drunk to give consent. He begins to use threatening language and control before they're even in a relationship. Isolating her from family and friends. He doesn't adequately prepare her for what she's getting into and he manipulates her into agreement. He has no consideration for her emotional or physical well-being when taking her virginity. No respect for Ana's wishes. One rule for him, another for her. Manipulation. Control. Possession. Rape. Open threats. Using sex as a weapon. You want space? Well you can't have it. Nothing in her life is as important as HIS desires. Coercive consent. Emotional manipulation. Using threats to keep Ana under his control. Constantly expecting Ana to be at his beck and call. Another reference to wanting to actually hurt her... In chapter 18, Christian and Ana are discussing his desire to spank her again. When Ana asks if he's going to hit her, he replies: "Yes, but it won't be to hurt you. I don't want to punish you right now. If you'd caught me yesterday evening, well that would have been a different story..." So, basically, had he seen her the previous night, when she forgot to call him, he'd have hit her in order to actually hurt her, rather than as a part of a sexy, consensual BDSM scene. That's called physical abuse, guys. And it's so far away from being sexy, I don't even know what to say to you anymore.
