I liked it overall. Not a book to read outside of your home and it took a little while to get into but then it had me hooked.
I've read the whole Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. My friend borrowed her books to me and I made several attempts to read it. I finally finished skimming the books a few months ago. My motivation for skimming it was to stay "in" with my friends and be up-to-date about media stuff. I felt the book was poorly written in that there was very little character development and the same phrases (something along the lines of 'she looked at him under her eyelashes') repeatedly. With that being said, I'm happy this book is mainstream and that people are openly embracing their sexuality.
I got through the first book and half of the second and then kind of lost interest. It was a decent read but I think it just got too much hype too quickly and lost a lot of peoples interest.
Ugg this book was terrible!! So cheesy I can't understand why everyone goes crazy over it. It's not even that shocking or adventurous. So poorly written it could have been a teen who wrote it. Lame and boring.
CHANGED MY LIFE! If you are looking for some excitement in your life, I highly recommend reading Fifty Shades.
The books is pretty terrible, I mean I still read it....but it's drivel. Also, it does represent very abusive relationships....not worth the time.
Ugh, I know another review. I have to get my mind out here, do not get me wrong I read all 3 in a week they were addictive. At the end of 3rd book I was there gawking going "What the eff did I just read?". Am I really reading a story about the cycle of abuse? Am I rally thinking this is okay that they are together? It is exactly pointing out all that goes through a persons mind during abuse... "but he got better", "but he loves her", "but she loves him".
After reading these books I feel so guilty and gross for being turned on.
I know some people hated it but it's just what I wanted in a fiction book. It was an easy read and I did get a little wrapped up in the characters. The steamy scenes, I have to say, I skipped over in the second and third book. It was a little too much but I did like the story. Can't wait for the movie!
Ugh - so overrated. This series was poorly written. While some of the sex scenes were interesting, it was over all bad. The characters were not appealing and it was a poor storyline.
I am a major reader, and while I had no interest in this book, I couldn't help but give it a read to see what all the hype was about. Rather, I should say try and read this book. Now, I knew going into it what the subject matter was, that didn't phase me, it was the writing. It read as if a middle school student wrote it- no offense to middle school students- but it just seemed like it was so poorly planned and executed. The characters were not only detestable, but also underdeveloped, unrelatable, and really just bland. On top of all that the writing style was poor. The grammar and general prose lacked any skill or thought. Ugh. Not a good read.
