Description

This book traces the deepening relationship between a college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young business magnate, Christian Grey. It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and sadism/masochism.

This is one of those guilty pleasures I have. I'm finishing the series now, and I can't help but notice the similarities between this and the Twilight trilogy. The characters are very similar. The girl who loses herself because she fell in love, blah blah. But for some reason, they're an addicting series. Something I'd read, but wouldn't brag about. Don't waste your money on them, borrow from a friend, or library (if they have it.)

A friend got me into this series. I actually enjoyed the books. It gave you an insight into some of the things that are out there. Some parts were a little graphic for me but all in all I thought them a good read. I enjoyed the characters, they came to life in the books, I keep hearing people say that the books were not well written, but feel that to write this type of book takes a lot of courage and they were quite well done. Gave enough detail to have you wanting more, the plot while definitely on the pornographic side was interesting, I liked how they progressed to what made Christian they way he was, I am a psychology nut and this aspect of the books really appealed to me.

I probably will not see the movie, I would rather have things left to ones own imagination and I don't think they will do the books justice unless the make them into actual porn films, which I would not want to see.

This book was popular but not a GOOD book. Not one of those books you finish reading and need to sit for a while and think. Just full of fluff. I didn't even finish reading it as i got bored about half way though. It didnt hold my attention, and i don't understand what the big fuss about it is. If people like BDSM literature, i'm sure there are a lot more higher quality stories out there.

OK I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I LOVED the series O.O I started reading it out of curiosity, and I was quickly hooked. I loved the characters and the way they grew through the series. Christian Grey, though a little possessive and stalker-ish, is my favourite character - true, he can be harsh at times, but you can see he has the best of intentions, and he slowly comes out of his "shell".

Some of the writing can be a bit "immature" and embarrassing to read, but overall, it was a fun read. You can't expect too much from a book(s) like this, which is what I think too many people focus on. I don't care about the politics of BDSM or what's "real" in the world of bondage - I just want an entertaining story.

I loved the books, but I'm not too sure about the upcoming movie. In my mind, I already have my Christian Grey and Anna Steel. I'm suspecting they will cut certain parts of the books out, so I may just stick with the books :S

I kept falling asleep during this book.
its poorly written, a 4 year old can right a better story.
Author would use the same words over and over.
Dull Dull book, way over rated.

I read this series in 2 weeks. At first I couldn't decide if there was a story or just plain smut. BUT I knew there had to be more. I am so glad I finished the series to find out the why. I actually loved it!

Am I the only one who thinks these books were poorly written? The idea was a pretty unique and risque one - but all in all, it fell very flat. I am an avid reader - so the writing style came across and poor to me and sort of sloppy and disorganized... Sorry to the folks who loved this book series - it was not for me!

Finally caved to the hype and decided to read it. Yes - horrible writing, but worse, I didn't like either of the main characters. Ana was insultingly clueless and Christian was too controlling and damaged. What an ego-maniac. I wanted to shake Ana and yell ' no-one could be this naive in the modern world'. I found it difficult to care what happened to either one of them so I don' t think I'll read the other two books. I have to chuckle at the term 'mommy porn' - surely sensuality has been done before (and well) by many a 'romance' writer?

I had read the whole trilogy, but to be completely honest the writing is horrible. It is a quick and easy read, but I definitely prefer books to have a bit more substance. I also found the plot was really predictable.
