Terribly written and only renowned for its shock value. Do yourself a favour and pick up some other romance novels instead.
I didnt love these books, i found myself going months without reading it. Slightly boring.
STUPID, STUPID BOOK. I mean, I can get off with way better erotica, and this is so horribly written, that I am wondering at what literacy level the lovers of this book are at.
Terrible writing, horrible representation of BDSM, and an example of an unhealthy relationships spun to make it seem as if it's romance. While it was a "easy" read due to it's language, it was done so in a poor fashion. The character lacked any depth and the overall theme is isn't of a healthy BDSM relationship. You can tell the author only knows a vague amount of it and makes many assumptions.
The one thing about this book is that because of it's easy read and unsophisticated design it has brought much more interest to learning about this alternative lifestyle, which I think is a good thing for society. It's just the factual mistakes about it that make me not like it and fear it can put a bad image of what it is really about.
I didnt dig what all this hype is/was about. I started to read it and could even finish book one, wasnt my cup of tea, i found writing too shallow for my liking, Will probably check out the movie when it comes out. But unfortunately i didnt find writing entertaining nor worth my time, and i always prefer books over movies. But thats just me :)
I found these books in need of a good editor. The sexual nature of this book didn't bother me but the weakness in the female lead character was sad.
I've read the whole Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy. My friend borrowed her books to me and I made several attempts to read it. I finally finished skimming the books a few months ago. My motivation for skimming it was to stay "in" with my friends and be up-to-date about media stuff. I felt the book was poorly written in that there was very little character development and the same phrases (something along the lines of 'she looked at him under her eyelashes') repeatedly. With that being said, I'm happy this book is mainstream and that people are openly embracing their sexuality.
The books is pretty terrible, I mean I still read it....but it's drivel. Also, it does represent very abusive relationships....not worth the time.
