I read this series because of all the buzz surrounding it. Although there were times I liked the books they seemed to be few and far between. The story line was ok but the writing in my opinion was very poor. I liked the characters well enough but felt the books dragged on. I have read other books from this genre since and have enjoyed them much better then this series, a bit disappointed :(
This was a really poorly-written piece of Twilight fan fiction. If you indulge in it, do it solely for its current popularity and pop culture presence. Otherwise, don't expect anything. Labelling another woman as meek and another man as having semi-abusive issues.
I've not read much erotica, but I really loved this series. I think I loved being able to see inside her mind and how she felt about everything as things progressed. I saw the movie, it was horrible after just finishing all three books the day before. The books are totally worth the read and I hope they spawn some more amazing mainstream erotica!
I have read all of the fifty shades and I am 50/50 about them. I do like the adult factors but I found this book repetitive. It was good but its not like I couldn't put it down good.
Everything about this trilogy is horrible. The writing itself is like something that came from a Junior High student. What kills me is the fact that this garbage is being viewed as a BDSM relationship when it's so far from that. This character is nothing but a narcissistic, abusive, controlling jerk with mommy issues. His abuse is glorified because he's rich...that's an unacceptable message to pass on to young women. Reading these books actually made me just angry.
Terribly written and only renowned for its shock value. Do yourself a favour and pick up some other romance novels instead.
So I couldnt stop reading the first book.. then couldnt wait for the second and of course the third.
However by the time I got to the third book I was skimming pages and just looking for the actual story line. I found the third book (and some of the second) were just the same "smut" over and over again.
I am all for the dirty/lustyness of the book but it probably could have been condensed to two books.
Good bit of escapism, although not at all believable, but I'm reading to be entertained, so this did the trick.
