    Fantastic History and Story

I first read Forbidden City in highschool it is a novel based on the events of the Tiananmen Square massacre in 1989. Its about a 17 year old boy who goes with his father to china because his dad is a news videographer and he is sent to take footage of an ambassador that will be visiting. The whole time they are there students start protesting and they start to film the protests over weeks. Eventually they end up getting caught right in the middle of the army massacre that occurs on the peaceful university students. The story is told through the eyes of the 17 year old boy, he describes what happens, how it makes him feel and what he goes through. Its an easy read but you become really connected to the characters. I was able to feel their saddness and pain. I have read it a few times and it has always stuck in my mind for many years after reading it. Its a great read I recommended it.
