90% OF CHICKS DIG IT
Sadly, a miss for me.
I was selected by @chickadvisor to sample the #chickadvisorecobox and received the @Garnier.Canada Hair Treats shampoo in the aloe formulation I also purchased the matching conditioner so that I could test the whole regimen
I really enjoyed the scent and found that the shampoo lathered well but did not like the way it left my hair feeling after I styled it Even when I lathered twice I never seemed to get that squeaky clean feeling I crave and my hair felt somewhat oily/heavy even after immediately washing and styling I applaud Garnier for making a vegan formula but prefer the clean feeling provided by other brands #igotitforfree
Just Okay
I received this shampoo free to try in excahnge for a review.
Overall, this shampoo stacks up against its sulfate-free/vegan counterparts, but I wasn't in love. I felt it look a lot of shampoo to get a lather or feel like it spread throughout my hair (and I don't have that much, shoulder length) and that is wasn't super cleansing. I know this is true for a lot of sulfate-free shampoos, so it is good for what it is and is just as good as others I've tried. I just don't think sulfate-free is for me because I like to feel like I'm getting a lather, otherwise I don't feel like my hair is getting cleansed.
I also have fairly dry hair and did not find this to be super hydrating. I think I would have liked to try a sample of the conditioner with it to see how the two worked together. Overall though, It did not make my hair any softer or easier to de-tangle when used with my regular conditioner. I find this to be the case with shampoos without dimethicone or silicones, so I was not surprised, but for being advertised as "hydrating" I would have liked to feel like it was a little more moisturizing (the formula is also clear, not creamy).
I checked out the price online and found that for the amount you get, the price is somewhat steep at around 8-10 dollars CA. I do like other Garnier products and find them to be cost-effective and pack the punch (Butter Rich is awesome) but this just didn't do it for me. On the other hand, the bottle is adorable and I loved the look of the packaging.
I don't think I'd buy it again because I'm just too used to other shampoos and I do have a sulfate-free favourite already, but I'm always excited to try more eco-friendly versions of products.
Just okay.
I have dry, curly hair, so whenever a product boasts extra hydration or moisture it interests me. This shampoo has a subtle fresh scent, which I enjoy, and a very small amount of product is needed to create a great amount of lather. I also like the unique bottle shape and packaging. However, this shampoo did nothing to hydrate my hair and left it feeling dry and frizzy. Overall I would not recommend it for someone with my hair type.
Thank you ChickAdvisor and Garnier!
Would work as a clarifying shampoo
I have naturally curly hair (3b curl type) and I found that this shampoo dried my hair out as opposed to adding moisture. The scent was nice and not too strong and I liked the bottle shape/size for ease of use in the shower. I would use this shampoo but infrequently and as a clarifying shampoo as it does really remove product buildup, for me it also stripped out the moisture. Using occasionally (to remove any product buildup) and then following up with a deep conditioner would be a good part of my haircare routine.
Fresh smelling hair
This shampoo lathers really well and leaves a fresh light scent after rinsing. It does the job of cleaning my hair however I didn't notice anything in terms of hydration. It's relatively expensive for the Garnier brand ($7 at Walmart) so I would say you can get something similar for a lower price that does the same thing.
Good plant derived shampoo
I received the Aloe Treat Garnier Fructis shampoo. The fact that its ingredients are 98% plant derived is very appealing as I try to stay away from chemicals. However, I was surprised that it still contained sulfate. I'm not sure if there are any shampoos out there that are made without sulfate because that's the ingredient that makes it lather. With that said, I didn't notice much foaming when I used it. The fragrance was light and not overpowering but personally I like coming out of the shower smelling fresh soap so maybe the Papaya scent would have suited me better. On another note, I do feel like my hair is slightly less dry.
I stand corrected. I am actually liking the way my hair smell after using the shampoo for over a week now. My sons have been complementing how nice my hair smells! 😁
