I have coloured my hair a few times and my hair never came out with the colour that the box indicated! Not only that but my hair became dull and dry. I decided to use Garnier Herbashine hair colour and I finally got the colour that I wanted! I love this product and it makes your hair feel healthier than it did before you coloured and you don't get visible roots! I would reccomend this product to anyone!
Let me start with the disclaimer that we did work with Garnier on a review club for this product and as most of you know, ChickAdvisor is my company. So take or leave my 2 cents on this product. However, I did buy this myself over the weekend because I needed to redo my roots in a pinch. I was curious to try it because I've quite liked Garnier hair colour products in the past and the no/low ammonia angle really appeals to me. There are few things less pleasant than trapping yourself in the bathroom with noxious fumes.
The other disclaimer is that I never use these products the way they were intended. You are supposed to apply to the roots, then carry through the rest of the hair, rinse out and then follow with conditioner. I only apply it to my roots, rinse out and then shampoo my hair. I know it's the wrong way to do it, but I find if it is a good product you can't tell the difference and my hair feels much cleaner after.
I was very pleased with the results from Herbashine. Not only was the colour (#530 medium golden brown) I selected a perfect match for my roots, but it covered my twinkly whites (I have a ridiculous amount for a person my age), and looks natural and shiny. Though I'm not a fan of the conditioner packaging, which was a pain to rip open, the formula is fantastically rich and moisturizing.
The smell is much less intense than products containing ammonia and that made it more pleasant to use. I'd love to see this formula in a root touch-up format.
Overall thumbs up and I would definitely re-purchase. I bought it for $7 on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart.
This product is pretty average. It did leave my hair feeling soft and the colour is nice. It covered some of my greys, but not the really stubborn ones, and after the first wash, most of them reappeared anyway.
It did have a pleasant fragrance during application, not at all offensive or too "perfume-y".
I think this product is pretty average, nothing special or life changing about it.
I received this product through the Chick Advisor product review club. The colour I picked was Dark Brown 400. Overall, this product is okay. Over the years I've used a lot of different brands of hair colour and really, this one didn't stand out in any particular way.
Like most hair colour products, it added shine and a bit of colour boost for the first few days - my hair is naturally brown, but this is a few shades darker, so it's nice for a change if you don't want something permanent. It has held its colour well in the past week since I used it.
I will say the smell is pretty good, but in comparison, most brands have a fairly good smell these days - not like way back when the dye reeked of ammonia.
I wish I could say more positive things about this product, but it didn't blow my socks off. It was pretty average overall - but if you're looking for a little shine boost and fresh colour, it is a decent choice for the price range.
My hair needed to be died badly...and with the holidays coming up...a two year old...and currently pregnant with my 2nd I really don't get much time to myself! Thank goodness this product only took 10 mins! I have super long hair..(bottom of my back) and did find that I had to send my husband out to buy a 2nd box...(not super impressed!) I also found that there was not enough conditioner in the package to last more then one shampoo! Always a big let down as it's nice to get a few treatments from the strong conditioner! Besides thoes two issues though, this product was great...made my hair shine, covered my roots, (even with a different brand) plus there was little to no smell from the product...so I really felt A-OK with applying it while pregnant! All in all a good product...great if you are in a hurry to get things done!
Thank you to the Product Review Club for allowing me to try Garnier HerbaShine Hair Colour! I received shade 200 - Brownish Black to try on my loong dark hair.
Preparation:
This brand of hair dye comes with the one-size-fits-all kind of thin plastic gloves. I gave them a shot but threw them out after I applied the dye because they leaked and were too short on my wrists anyways.
The Activating Creme and Colour Creme were easy to mix.
Formula and Application:
The formula was a pretty good consistency. A little on the thin side, but not so much that it ran all over the place. What I love most about the HerbaShine product is that there is NO ODOUR!! Also, while it was in my hair, it didn't irritate my scalp, like other ammonia-based products which can cause itching or even a burning sensation. Biggest problem: There was not enough dye to colour all of my hair! I have long hair but expected that the product would cover my mane. (Luckily, I'm due for a trim so the un-coloured ends will be cut out.)
I thought there could have been more conditioner included in the HerbaShine package. The instructions said to saturate hair with the conditioner, so I started with half the pouch but ended up using all of it. With other brands, I've had enough left over to do a few weekly conditioning treatment to keep my hair healthy. Not the case with the HerbaShine product, but at least there was enough conditioner to do my hair once.
Results and Colour:
My hair feels and looks healthy, and has amazing shine! The colour is natural and rich - love it! I have very few gray hairs, but those I do have are very coarse and very noticable in my dark hair. The HerbaShine hair colour didn't completely cover my grays, but did mask them so at least they didn't stand out so much.
Final word:
While I think this product might be somewhat less effective at gray-coverage, it's an excellent choice if you're looking for healthy-looking, natural shine and colour! Also, I would recommend this to people who have a sensitive scalp - or sniffer!
I was lucky enough to receive this product from the Product Review Club right before christmas time and party season began. I was quite happy that the processing time was only 10 minutes, since everything is so hectic around the holidays. So I set aside 10 minutes for myself and got to work. I was very impressed with this hair color product. First of all, there is no harsh chemical smell. I love that this product is natural, and not harsh on my hair or on my nose and eyes. Most hair dyes kill me with the fumes from the dye when I lighten my hair. This color; because it doesnt contain those same harsh chemicals; smells rather lovely. The application was really quite adverage. Very easy, more than enough product to cover all of my hair. I actually felt bad because I ended up wasting half a bottle, I wished I had had someone to share with. The processing time was so short I barely had time to pluck my eyebrows before the timer went off. It rinsed out well, and again, I was happy there was no harsh odour. I did like the conditoner but prefer my own, which is no surprise because I am using k-pak by joico. After blow drying I inspected my hair. I wasn't awed, but thats actually kindof what I wanted. I know that doesn't seem to make sence, but what I wanted was a subtle transition. I am going from my light bleached blonde from summer back to my natural blonde. I picked their lightest shade of blonde, and to be honest I was surprsied how dark it was, but it was perfect. I needed to cover my roots a little, and darken the rest of my lighter blonde. This did just that! It was perfect. It was less color, in my case, but it was exactly what I wanted. It toned down my hair to a warmer hue and lightened my roots slightly. It says its not permanent, which might be perfect for me to use as my hair grows out to its natural color. Im hoping I dont start to see akward roots where the color is wearing out on my other color and where it grows out, but that remains to be seen so far. I have washed it about a dozen times and I am still very impressed. A nice, easy to d, and easy on my hair, 10 minute fix to my post-summer blonde. :) I am overall, very much so impressed with this hair color. It isn't for someone who wants a dramatic change for sure, but rather to add some depth and shine to lackluster hair. I would reccomend this. Not only is it easy on your hair, its not fully permanent. How can you go wrong?
O.K. So it has been 3 days since I used this product, and I have washed my hair everyday, and the color is still rich and hasn't faded. So far, impressed with the longevity of the initial first washings.
The Application: The smell is pleasant, there is NOOOO harsh smell at all that you are used to with other hair colors. The gloves are the usual ones you see with colors, not the best, but workable...I did notice that some were saying the applicator bottle tip was hard to get off, but it was not at all, just TWIST off as it says, and voila! Easy peasy, it's off. O.K. it's worth noting that I have hair down to my waist, and there was indeed enough product for all that hair. I was very happy with that! How often could you say that? I did time the application time and 10 mins IS ALL U NEED! It does process fast, so you have to hustle to get it all worked in fast.
I loved the conditioner included in the box. It felt like it drenched my hair very well after the color was rinsed out. It also lasted two times on my very long hair. Love love that! I used 415 on my hair, and it was very close to what I already had, so it was a huge boost of shine to my hair and great warmth to my already chocolate hair. I would definitely use this color again, I have absolutely no bad things to say about it. My favorite thing of all is the short processing time, I mean 10 minutes! That's so great! The color goes in, I tweeze my eyebrows a bit, and it's time to rinse. So great! Gonna stock up on these when I see them on sale.
I was so excited to receive Garnier Herbashine in Dark Brown through the Product Review Club! I just turned 26 and I have a few grey hairs here and there (they seem to multiply overnight!) After trying a few different types of dye, I've come to appreciate a great semi-permanent. I love that this product is ammonia free because on top of having a few grey hairs I also have fine, curly (read: damaged) hair, so I do love a gentle product that can get the job done.
The process was pretty straight forward and similar to other dyes. Love that you only need to leave it in for 10 minutes to get results though! On-the-go busy girls definitely appreciate that extra 10min to get other things done! The coverage was great too - I have just above shoulder length hair and I probably could have gotten two uses out of the amount in a box, but for the purpose of this review I used the whole thing in one go. Really easy to apply too. My only complaint about the product supplied would have to be the size of the conditioner package. Instead of a nice tube that gives you numerous uses, there was only a small sample-sized foil pouch of conditioner - just enough for the initial use. Although this product is gentler than most dyes, I had hoped for a great conditioner to accompany my new colour for at least a week of showers (instead of resorting to my usual bottle).
But the colour turned out great, very similar to the colour on the box! Love how silky and healthy my hair felt afterward too. And so far, the colour has lasted marvelously - a gradual fade as to avoid harsh root lines, but the colour hasn't changed drastically (I've used other semi-permanent dark browns that turn brassy as they fade). Overall, definitely will buy again!
I received Garnier Herbashine Hair Colour as part of the Product Review Club. I was very excited to try it, especially since I have just started noticing a few gray hairs. I like that this product is ammonia free and less damaging to my hair. The smell was not harsh like most regular permanent hair dyes I've used in the past. After using my hair got a boost of my natural colour and felt soft and silky. The only thing I am curious about is how long my colour will last before it fades. It is a nice, quick option if you want to brighten up your hair/cover a few grays. I would recommend because I like natural/safe products that are still effective!
