Dyed my hair the other night with this. I normally use permament dyes so this was a bit different for me. I haven't dyed my hair in about 6 months.
Easy to mix. I don't like that it came with the cheapy thin plastic gloves. They never fit right.
No bad scents which is great. I did find that it was a bit drippy - I'd prefer a thicker cream.
Quite happy with the results - my grey is covered and the colour turned out even. Often when I colour my hair, it looks black for a day or two but this didn't happen this time.
I really like the conditioning treatment. My hair feels very soft.
I'm not sure if I would use this again or not. As mentioned, I usually use permament dyes so I'll see how I feel once this fades.
I bought this product because I've never tried an ammonia free colour and was intrigued by the Bamboo extract ingredient.
What I loved:
* tons of shine
* silky soft hair
* a thick healthy feel to my hair which has been dyed many times and needed a little TLC
What I wasn't so crazy about:
* this product is designed to blend grays, not necessarily cover them. I think it did what it promised, but should have had a little better coverage. I found my grays were still a little more obvious than what I expected.
* for an ammonia free product, I was surprised at how strong the scent still was. Not a bad smell, but it was noticeable even a wash or two later
* I too needed extra conditioner and would have liked better quality gloves.
Overall, this is a very solid product that if you want to add richness, shine, and a healthy texture, you are in very good hands. I would buy it again.
It's been more then a week now ever since I tested out this exciting product. I found this hair colour dye different from the rest of the hair colour brands out there. What I like about this product is that the colour does not leak out and it kept my hair looking nice & shiny for the following day. The colour is very nice and a close match to my natural hair colour. I give this product a 2 thumbs up!
I enjoyed my experience with Garnier Herbashine. Firstly, the box itself is nice, and unlike with most hair dyes i found that the colour on the box actually matched the way my hair looked once it was dyed. The texture was nice and there was enough for me to do all my hair which was great! The dye itself made my hair feel healthy and shiny. I would definitely recommend it, and will be using it for future dyes and I will definitely recommend it to my friends as well. Already my mom has switched from her old brand and she loves it! It's the right colour and easy to use.
I was very excited when I got chosen to try this product and was looking forward to trying it.
What I liked:
-The best thing for me was that this colour only took 10 minutes. I don't have the patience to wait the full 20 minutes that it normally takes and never get a good coverage becuase I rinse it off to soon.
-The coverage was great. Sometimes I find when using other brands is that the grey hair coverage is not that good. I usually can tell where the greys were as the colour is lighter. I found with this product I had even coverage all over. This was a plus for me.
-The actual colour came out really well. Because I dye my hair at home a lot and use different brands the colour normally is nowhere near the box colur. With this product it was pretty close, not perfect but you can never get perfect with a box colour.
-My hair did feel soft after using it and the smell was not that bad.
What I didn't like
-Gloves are important to me when doing my hair at home and I was not happy with these. I do like rubber gloves better and this box had plastic ones. I find these harder to work with.
-Not enough conditioner. I have very curly hair and when I wash the dye out my hair gets really tangled and I need lots of conditioner to detangle it. The amount provide was not enough for me.
Overall I liked this product. It was easy to do, fast and I am happy with the colour. Would use it again. Thank you for the opportunity to try it.
I received this product in Golden Brown. My hair to start with had been died blonde in early September and when I went to dye it using this product it hadn't been touched since then.
PROS
- left my hair SOOOOO slky and soft - loved that!
- didn't have an offensive smell
- didnt stain my skin
CONS
- didn't dye my hair completely - left it with a sort of ring around my crown?
- my hair came out RED - not my intention! I wanted it to go brown, but I realize that since it had been bleached beforehand, it would not turn out as I had hoped
- didn't "stick" to my hair... i made sure to cover my roots etc... and I still have roots.
- has washed out pretty fast
Overall, I think I might buy this again just because it made my hair so soft. But, in a really dark color to counteract my light hair.
I received this product for the product review club. The scent wasn't too overwhelming. Because I have dark hair, sometimes, when I want to go lighter or try another colour, I need to treat or bleach my hair. With this one, I just tried it without doing anything. The colour was noticeable, and looked quite natural. The instructions were very easy to follow, and I had no problems. I've washed my hair about 7 times after using HerbaShine, and it doesn't look like the colour has faded at all, but I know that it will being to eventually. It's always nice to know at how many washes you'll see noticeable fading, so I am keeping track of that.
My hair felt the same as it usually does after a couple of washes. But when I first used HerbaShine, my hair did feel silkier and softer when I ran my fingers through it. It doesn't look or feel like there has been any type of damage to my hair.
I never usually colour my hair. I've coloured on occasion to try a new hair colour, and sometimes to dye back to my natural colour when it started to show very notiecable roots. Also, I would prefer not to damage my hair, because once you do, you're hair will never be the same. I never really wanted to regret colouring my hair. I've also used Henna to colour my hair, and it doesn't have the most pleasent smell or feeling, so it's nice to know that I can buy a hair colour that is "semi-permanent" from the drugstore.
I would definitely buy or recommend HerbaShine, so far I've had a great experience.
Alright, I'm always a bit nervous when colouring my hair - I had been a hair model for years and finally have no permanent colour in my hair (I've only tried semi-permanent recently). I have naturally black-brown hair and mid back length. So... Garnier HerbaShine seemed like an optimal choice for my temporary colour urges.
I went ahead with the "Dark Burgundy" shade - I was aiming for a cool tone that suits my complexion.I didn't have the expectation that my hair colour would change drastically (don't expect this... this is more for a tint in the sun). I also bought a second box on sale for $6.99 (great deal) because for someone with thick and long hair, one box will not suffice.
The Process: The gloves fit fine and stayed on throughout the whole process. I usually have someone who colours my hair for me at home, however, I attempted to do it myself and surprisingly it was EASY... ! What I truly could not stand was the product's scent... whoa... I thought I developed some sensitivity or something as I was coughing and my nose was itching profusely. For a 10 minute wait time... I can't complain... I hate waiting 20-30 minutes for hair dye to penetrate - and potentially making a greater mess around the house :)
The Result: Okay, the weirdest results occurred - my roots (first 2 inches) were coloured and could be noticed indoors and outdoors BUT the rest of my hair did not take in any richness - this absolutely shocked me and YES, after 12 consecutive washes the hair colour has not faded from my roots (and this is with virgin hair too). Also, the "burgundy" tone was more like a ashy dark brown shade - definitely not what I was aiming for. Oh and I also noticed that my hair still smelled "processed/coloured" after multiple washes - that seemed odd no matter how vigorously I cleansed my hair.
What is truly amazing about this product is the explosive shine given to my locks. WOW! My healthy hair looked like it went through a glossing treatment, and guess what? After 12 washes it's still shining. And even after using my straightener it did not leave my hair dull. Lastly, I noticed a desired volume to my hair, it felt thicker and bouncy, just like a hair commercial!!!
Personally, I would opt for the previous semi product I've tried as the product and results achieved overall were more positive and provided the same shine and volume in my hair. Garnier HerbalShine is a hit or miss in colour - if you get it right (which we all cross our fingers for), I can see this product complimenting your current shade, but for my black/brown hair, I'll pass on the reds and aim for a a brown next time!
I recently tried this product and found the application to be very simple. I love that it only takes 10 minutes.
The bamboo extract made my hair soft and shiny and the smell of the product wasn't harsh like some hair dyes.
I would definitely recommend this product!
Thanks to Chick Advisor and The Product Review Club I got to try this hair coloring product. I've been doing my haircolor at home for past 13 years(I'm 29) so I pretty much know what I want from a product. I've had pink, purple, black, blond, red, and brown hair in my life so color doesn't scare me. What I mean by that is that depending on the product you may or may not get what you want (and what they claim...). I sometimes get a surprise result from a color and then the final result will grow on me(literally...).
The color I had before using this was a golden brown: I was trying to grow out and wash out the redhead that I was for the past year.
And so I chose this time, #510 Medium Ash Brown to get the brassyness out of there and get it a tad darker.
Result: It came out as a DARK brown, I even thought it had gone black! Remember, I had black hair a few years ago, liked it and kept it like that for 3 years BUT I did not have the intention of dying it THAT dark.
I have washed my hair 3 times in the past week and it still smells like hair dye (stinks!) and now, it looks more like a dark chocolate color under bright lighting. I've bought cheaper hair dyes that didn't smell as much and had no ammonia in them either.
I also prefer conditioner in a tube because 12$ for a small sample sized one is insulting at that price.
Verdict: While it doesn't wash off easily(until now) and the color is very rich(I have long hair and one box was all it took), smells like all other products out there, has a one time use conditioner, and in no way was close to the color shown on the box.Unless it is on clearance I will be using other products to satisfy my haircoloring needs.
