They can't seem to be able to make a product that the color would actually last longer and you don't have to do it all over again in 3 small weeks.
I used to try this brand, I would go for a dark auburn. The color turns out like it is supposed to and it gives your hair nice shine and vibrant color. The reason I Rated it how I did is because I have tried better home dye kits and although this one is good, it isn't my favorite.
i used the root touch up for medium to light blondes , and i found it didnt really match my hair correctly.. more like just created a reddish tone to my roots.. i would recommend this..
This is a pretty good hair color to do at home. You can find it on sale often, and sometimes get more coupon through Garnier or other websites, so I usually get it half price.
It works well, lasts a decent amount of time, and makes my hair look shiny.
It is not too different from other hair color boxes I have used, such as L'oreal, but I do like it more than Clairol boxes.
This product really makes your hair shinny and smooth... doesnt cover grey so well... but definitely makes it look like highlights
This product is pretty average. It did leave my hair feeling soft and the colour is nice. It covered some of my greys, but not the really stubborn ones, and after the first wash, most of them reappeared anyway.
It did have a pleasant fragrance during application, not at all offensive or too "perfume-y".
I think this product is pretty average, nothing special or life changing about it.
I received this product through the Chick Advisor product review club. The colour I picked was Dark Brown 400. Overall, this product is okay. Over the years I've used a lot of different brands of hair colour and really, this one didn't stand out in any particular way.
Like most hair colour products, it added shine and a bit of colour boost for the first few days - my hair is naturally brown, but this is a few shades darker, so it's nice for a change if you don't want something permanent. It has held its colour well in the past week since I used it.
I will say the smell is pretty good, but in comparison, most brands have a fairly good smell these days - not like way back when the dye reeked of ammonia.
I wish I could say more positive things about this product, but it didn't blow my socks off. It was pretty average overall - but if you're looking for a little shine boost and fresh colour, it is a decent choice for the price range.
Thanks to Chick Advisor and The Product Review Club I got to try this hair coloring product. I've been doing my haircolor at home for past 13 years(I'm 29) so I pretty much know what I want from a product. I've had pink, purple, black, blond, red, and brown hair in my life so color doesn't scare me. What I mean by that is that depending on the product you may or may not get what you want (and what they claim...). I sometimes get a surprise result from a color and then the final result will grow on me(literally...).
The color I had before using this was a golden brown: I was trying to grow out and wash out the redhead that I was for the past year.
And so I chose this time, #510 Medium Ash Brown to get the brassyness out of there and get it a tad darker.
Result: It came out as a DARK brown, I even thought it had gone black! Remember, I had black hair a few years ago, liked it and kept it like that for 3 years BUT I did not have the intention of dying it THAT dark.
I have washed my hair 3 times in the past week and it still smells like hair dye (stinks!) and now, it looks more like a dark chocolate color under bright lighting. I've bought cheaper hair dyes that didn't smell as much and had no ammonia in them either.
I also prefer conditioner in a tube because 12$ for a small sample sized one is insulting at that price.
Verdict: While it doesn't wash off easily(until now) and the color is very rich(I have long hair and one box was all it took), smells like all other products out there, has a one time use conditioner, and in no way was close to the color shown on the box.Unless it is on clearance I will be using other products to satisfy my haircoloring needs.
Ok, so I've been coloring my hair at home for a long time. I love haircolor that only takes ten minutes. And this lives up to it's promises. My real problem comes with the gloves. The gloves that come with the kit were too big in the fingers. This meant that I had no real sense about applying the product to my hair. My other problem is with the conditioner. I would much prefer a small tube of conditioner than one envelope of product. As with most garnier products I have tried, I am not crazy about the fragrance. But overall the shine in my hair is good and the grey coverage was good. I won't be buying this for future use, but am glad to have tried.
I found that my experience was similar to other reviews I read. The cream was a little thick, and as I have long thick hair, I was pretty worried I wouldn't have enough. I definitely could have used more dye, but as my hair is likely longer then average, I think this wouldn't be a problem for most people. The smell was pretty similar to other hair dyes, maybe a bit better. Following the dying, my hair looked a bit darker, but not a lot. This was fine though, as I wasn't looking for a big change. The main reason I don't dye my hair is that I hate the look of roots, and I'm hoping this will prevent that. I have curly hair, and this seemed to be fairly gentle on it, my hair does feel soft afterwards. So far, I would recommend for slight colour changes.
