Ok, so I've been coloring my hair at home for a long time. I love haircolor that only takes ten minutes. And this lives up to it's promises. My real problem comes with the gloves. The gloves that come with the kit were too big in the fingers. This meant that I had no real sense about applying the product to my hair. My other problem is with the conditioner. I would much prefer a small tube of conditioner than one envelope of product. As with most garnier products I have tried, I am not crazy about the fragrance. But overall the shine in my hair is good and the grey coverage was good. I won't be buying this for future use, but am glad to have tried.
I was really excited to be able to try this for the product review club, so I picked a colour that I usually purchase in hair dyes, and needless to say that I was kind of torn on the results.
Not only did the smell bother me (and the person who was dying my hair for me), but we found that in the end, the colour did not compare to a certain other brand that I have purchased before.
On the other side, the bamboo extract is a great thing, and my hair doesn't seem as damaged as it would have been with my regular dyes. If I had of chosen a colour not-so-close to my current colour, I'm sure I would have noticed a difference greater to the one that I did.
Overall, it works, and it's better for your hair, so give it a try.
I received the Herbashine semi-permanent hair dye to do a review. This was a much needed review as my hair was looking rather drabulous(think dull and boring). So I really needed the shine back in my hair as I found it was making me look rather sloppy. I was happy that this was a Semi-permanent dye which meant ir wasn't going to be a commitment I'd have to keep up with say if I didn't like the colour I got from using the product.
Now lets move on to what we really need to discuss the effectiveness of the product. After all that's what you're here for.
What I liked
-The shine it gives
- Bamboo Extract(which reinforces the hairs protective cuticle)
- Easy application
- Decent consistency
What could be improved
-While I like the consistency I did find it to be a tad on the runny side and it did drip on me during application.
-The smell wasn't to special kinda unappealing-
-The Golden Brown was a tad brassy
I did notice the product didn't dry out my hair so that alone makes me feel better about dying my hair since its in a fragile state right now and I need something to keep the odd grays I have at bay(I have roughly 2-5 gray hairs that pop up). So I will probably continue use of this product but will most likely venture into a different shade and hope I find one that suits my skin tone and doesn't make my hair too brassy.
So with those highs and lows I would recommend the product as I do find it to be a great Semi-permanent dye. It gives great shine and leaves you with many choices in shades plus the price point is affordable.
Big Thanks to the ChickAdvisor Product review club for this one!
Here are the things I liked about the product:
- The instructions were easy to follow
- The application process was quite simple (formula was not too thick or too drippy)
- It only takes 10 minutes
- Did not sting my scalp, like some previous brands have
- The conditioner was very nourishing
- my hair felt very soft, shiny, and the color matched perfectly
Cons:
- the smell I was not too fond of, but it was bearable *jeeping in mind that I am very sensitive to powerful scents*
- it took a little longer to wash out the color in the shower
Overall, I would definitely recommend this product based on effectiveness, ease of use, and quality!
It has been a while since I've coloured my hair, (approximately 1.5 years) - and it shows. My roots have grown below my ear (yikes!) but because the colour is not too different then my natural colour, it isn't that noticeable, and at most, it looks like I'm jumping on the 'ombre hair' trend (which I'd like to think I started, j/k). Nonetheless, I was very pleased with trying something new from the Product Review Club to give myself an overall even colour.
The thing that concerned me was the difference between my very long roots and the bottom of my hair, but since the dye would be matching the lower half (I went slightly lighter than my roots which are normally very dark brown), the dye ended up evening the two out adequately.
With only a 10 minute soak, this is definitely a time efficient product - although usually I wait until my roots grow too long in which case, I normally soak my roots for a longer period of time then the ends. With a 10 minute timeframe, I wasn't too comfortable adding too much time onto the roots, but fortunately the colour change was not drastic, so I did not receive a noticeably uneven result.
The dye itself was substantialy thicker than I'm used to from other previous home hair dyes that I've used, which meant that it took more arm power to work it throughout my hair, but it was sufficient in covering my long hair.
While I'll be interested to see how it fades over the next month, as it is a demi-permanent dye that is supposed to last through 28 shampooings, I personally do look for a longer-lasting dye when I am dying my hair only because I want to minimize the damage from hair dye and thus would like to maximize the length of time between applications. This was not marketed for a longer-lasting period so I did not take this into account when I assessed the quality of the dye - but it was just something that would affect my decision in repurchasing this.
Overall I am impressed with its efficacy and efficiency as well as its minimal damage on my hair quality along with its comparatively pleasing scent when applying it. I did not notice a substantial difference in terms of shininess although I definitely did not see a dulling effect so that was a plus in my books. If you're looking for a hair dye that is relatively safe (aka not permanent) this is a very good one that is also very easy on the hair and has a comprehensive range of shades in my opinion.
Its been a long time since a colored my hair, because I like to give my hair a break, but I really love this product!! The color I got is exactly what I wanted!!! I was afraid a little at first, because I got the MEDIUM GOLDEN BLONDE, my hair is dark brown and is the first time I go a little lighter but I like it a lot!!!!
Really easy application, and like all products from garnier the smell is nice, for being a coloring cream, is not the typical harsh chemical odor.. I didnt had to hide from my kids because of the odor, it smells nice, really nice!
My hair after application, is shiny, smooth, smells great, Ireally dont know if it is fortified :), but its feels and looks very beautiful!
I will continue using this products, for price , quality, and results; I even try some other shades!!! I would definitively recomend to my friends and family
Very good product!!!!!!!!!
I am usually pretty nervous about colouring my hair, mainly because I am a wash-and-go sort of girl and I don’t like the high maintenance feel of having to keep up with colouring my hair to avoid roots. That and the fact that I have pretty dark black hair so very little will actually cover that. This being said I like to try semi-permanent hair dyes such as this because it allows me to experiment with fun colours (knowing that it may or may not come out super vibrant over my black hair) which is why I chose shade 426 Deep Purple. I thought if I didn’t like it at least it would wash out in 28 washes!
I am reasonably happy with the colour. I am not blown away because honestly my hair doesn’t look that different to me (which I expected), but according to my sister my hair actually looks purple. I feel like as it starts to fade the purple might look more vibrant (as backwards as that sounds).
The product wasn’t easier or more difficult to apply than any other at home hair colour I have tried. The scent was less chemically but still strong in my opinion.
By far my favourite part of the product (as another reviewer also mentioned) was the conditioner included in the package! It was easily one of the best conditioners I have ever used. It was so thick and nourishing and it smelt phenomenal. While I found the hair colour itself took FOREVER to rinse out of my hair (and I was worried the long time I was taking to rinse it out would dry my hair out) the conditioner single handedly rescued it immediately. After applying the conditioner my hair was unbelievably silky, soft and shiny.
Overall I was happy with this product. I would recommend it to a friend based on the length of application time (10 minutes!) and the quality of the conditioner. Given that the purple did show up on my dark hair I think that people with lighter hair would be very happy with the colour payoff that this product provides. In addition I have long hair (it goes almost halfway down my back, and it’s curly!) and the amount of product in one box easily covered all of my hair.
I got this dye in a shade that was the best match for my natural hair color. I had some light blonde in my hair but wanted to go back to just my natural dark blonde. The application went smoothly, the only problem was I have pretty long hair and I had to really spread the dye. I would recommend using two if your hair is longer to make sure you really cover everything.
I love the idea of it making your hair soft and not damaging it at all. I also love the fact that it will wash out in 28 washes so it's not completely permanent just in case!
My hair turned out to be a really nice rich color. its very soft and shiny and I really loved the final product. I would probably buy this dye again and recommend it to others :)
I was given the chance to try Garnier's Herbashine through the Product Review Club. So far I am liking the product. The application process was pretty straight forward and I didn't encounter any problems. The product scent was similar to others. I like the fact that this is an ammonia free product. I have stayed away from dying my hair because I wasn't interested in having my hair permanently dyed. I didn't want to encounter constantly having the dye my hair to cover up my roots. But because of this, this would be best only for change your hair colour slightly. For me, I was able to darken my hair slightly and I am liking the results. I believe I would use this product again due mostly to the fact that it isnt' a permanent dye
I was really looking forward to trying Garnier's Herbashine mostly due to the fact that it only takes ten minutes to healthier looking hair. I didn't find the smell to be any different than other dyes but I found the process to be much quicker. I really appreciate not having to wait for thirty minutes for colour especially during the month of December! I have medium length hair and I found there to be ample enough product to do the job but I could see if you have longer hair maybe buying two kits. I used the colour light brown which is the natural colour of my hair as I was really only looking to cover just a few strands of grey and have more shine. I was happy with the results and combined with Garnier Fructis Color Shield Shampoo and Conditioner it helped prolong the colour. I love the fact that the colour isn't permanent so you don't have to worry about roots. I would recommend this product and I will continue to use it if not for my greys then for the shine alone! Thanks Loreal and ChickAdvisor for another great product!
