I Tried this hair dye the other day and while I generally love garnier products, this one was no good in my opinion. I picked up a box on sale thankfully and thought the deep red would be a great hue change up to my dark brown and flat hair. I followed the directions to a t and I have dyed and highlighted my hair a number of times. This dye was super messy and got all over the place. It also took forever to rinse out clear and left my hair super dry and brittle. I could handle those issues if the dye was successful but the dye seemed to have completely rinsed out of my hair...even though it seemed quite saturated with the dye before the rinse. I am also noticing dye still rinsing out in the shower with shampoo. This product does nothing to what it promises on the box and I don't recommend it at all unless blotchy faded dye is the look you are going for.
I dye my hair once a month with olia, its my go to, smells awesome and really conditions
I've been using this product to dye my hair blonde.( I have used it to dye my hair brown as well) The colour always turns out shiny and vibrant! It smells great and I like that it is ammonia free.
I really liked this hair color, its inexpensive, spreads evenly through hair, i only needed one bottle instead of my normal 2 and my hair felt soft after colouring. The applicator bottle is a bit flimsy but i normally use a colouring bowl or use a sturdier applicator i got at Sally for cheap. see my video review at this link on youtube: https://youtu.be/PrKJMPhpbdE
While it did change the color of my hair, I didn't get the result I wanted. I think there are better hair dyes out there.
Pros: The lack of smell (no ammonia). No stains on my skin, counter, or towel. Nice gloves
Cons: the applicator bottle was a little uncomfortable to hold. The product was clear, so it was hard to tell where I had put the product. I worried that I missed areas; I worried that I wouldn't have enough product to do my whole head (I have a lot of long hair). I had a hard time opening the bottle of conditioner.
was not impressed by the results Garnier Olia Permanent Haircolor. The developer container made me unsure if I had gotten all the product out. I had a hard time keeping my grip on the applicator bottle, with its bubble like shape kept slipping out of hands. It had no odor. The only thing it did was make my hair shinier. The Light Golden Blonde did not even lighten my already dirty blonde hair. I received this product for free but this opinion is my own.
I usually need two boxes of hair dye because of my thick hair but since this hair dye is an oil-based treatment, I only need one which is great for me. Saves money and time.
I LOVE THIS ONE AS MY HAIR IS HARD TO COVER. I THINK BECAUSE IT HAS A PRE-TREAT HELPS TO COVER BETTER AND LAST A BIT LONGER. IT MAKES MY HAIR LOOK HEALTHIER.
I bought this on clearance from Shopper's yesterday for $8.00.
This is the sort of story where "I love the restaurant, but then I got food poisoning."
First impressions - a little wasteful in the packaging department. There was an extra empty bottle to mix step 1&2;in, rather than just add the second ingredient into the first already half-full bottle.
The black gloves were chic, and salon feeling.
The dye smells FABULOUS. No ammonia - no burning.
I went with the 5.5 mahogany colour, to put on top of my light brown hair. The result was HORRIBLY PATCHY! I had random black streaks, and spots where the colour didn't take at all. I have been dying at home for a long, long, long time, and I know that I covered my whole head in product. I was going to go back and buy another box, because where the colour was right, I LOVED it. Even the black streaks could have been interesting, if they weren't accompanied by weird light patches.
I decided to read some reviews before going to buy another box. The reviews were mostly awful - lots of people complaining about the patchiness, and one who even said she re-dyed, and got the same result with the same patches not taking the colour.
I went with a diffent product (with burny ammonia) and got great coverage.
I am glad it was only $8.00, but it was still a waste of money. Where the colour took, was amazing, which only made it worse that it was patchy :( I would have loved to have my whole head the correct colour.
This product was not only a waste of money, but EXTREMELY frustrating!! I had heard a lot about this product and was excited to try it. My stylist went on mat leave, so I decided to go back to at-home colour until she came back. MAJOR MISTAKE!!!! I have long hair and always need 2 bottles. 2 bottles on my just past shoulder length hair didnt suffice!! Additionally, I have naturally auburn-med brown hair, so decided to go with light brown to ensure it didnt end up too dark. Again, MAJOR MISTAKE!! Light brown on medium hair ENDED UP ALMOST BLACK!
The mixing and bottle were frustrating! The bottle shape was awkward to use, and I ended up with colour spots on my ceiling..... CEILING!!!!! It splattered!! Over a year later, and 2 paint jobs, the spots are still there!! I have never had this amount of splatter with a product! Had I known in advance, there is absolutely no way I would risk it!!
The ABSOLUTE WORST PART was trying to wash the product out!! My hair was so dry, it was literally a rats nest! I BROKE A METAL COMB IN MY HAIR!!! Both tubes of rinse, 10 minutes of scrubbing, and combing while rinsing.. The colour was still rinsing out, and I was literally in tears trying to get the knots out!! It took half a bottle of colour-protect conditioner to stop the colour from running, and to be able to brush it! After rinsing the conditioner out, again I couldnt get a brush through my hair!! I applied argan oil, which I use for straightening, and although it helped, I still wasnt able to brush it until my hair was completely dry.
Even after several washes, the colour stayed dark! Ended up having to pay over $350 at the salon to have the damage caused by this product fixed! It chemically burned my hair!!!
There are HUNDREDS of home hair colour products, DONT RISK IT!!! DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!
