We dyed my daughter's hair the other day with this new Olia hair dye from Garnier. We loved the fact that there were no drips. It didn't have a horrid smell like some other dyes. The color was good. The gloves were very cheap however & actually ripped. That was a first. I also found that even using the conditioner provided, her hair was kind of dried out.

Most of you have probably heard of Garnier's Olia permanent ammonia free hair dye by now.
There are tons and tons of mixed reviews I have read and I figured the only way to figure it out is to try it myself! So here I am testing out this randomly rated product. I bought this in black-FIGURES!I wish they had blue black which is the current color I like to use but their selection isn't the greatest. I paid a whopping $11.99 for this which is just crazy but I was thinking maybe this product would be worth it?
This dye includes a basic hair color kit. This does contain the developer and the colorant in different tubes to mix into the bottle rather then it usually coming with one in the bottle.Makes me feel like all those people who get to buy dye from Sallys and mix it all up! lol. No Sallys around my area =(. Then the after care conditioner, I have yet to actually like any of these that come with box dyes.
It's about DAMN time they came up with an applicator bottle that was perfect! Apparently that was a difficult thing to do! But Garnier takes the cake in this contest. The bottle was very easy to hold and with the end on the applicator it really gives you the precision you need with getting in the roots.
    PROS:
*This product is super thick, fells like I was using conditioner to dye my hair which was great for no drips or splattering dye on my wall or floors.
*NO horrible dye smell! That was one of my top loves of this product. There is a faint floral scent that is pleasant but I barely noticed it so it wasn't over powering, no need for the bathroom fan on or window to be open!
*The applicator! It was pretty much perfect, easy to squeeze the product out and super easy to do roots with the nice tapered off end.
*Didn't get the total straw like feel when washing dye out.

    CONS:
*Pricy. Is this justifiable with the fact there isn't that horrid ammonia smell you must smell for a good hour??
*Maybe it was a tad too thick? I did have a couple spots on my head after washing the dye out and blow drying that I might have applied too much to that area and I had to blot with a kleenex.
    *Not a huge color selection.
    *The conditioner was terrible.

Okay so they claim to reverse dullness, roughness for softer shiner hair with bounce. Meh. I didn't think it gave my hair any extra anything other then some refreshed color. I have soft hair to begin with so maybe that's why I didn't have amazing results.

The total time to apply was almost 15 minutes, I do use a brush to make sure I get all of the dye on my hair so that takes longer. You wait 30 minutes for dye to process.

So what do I really think? The color was nice, not crazy shiny black which I always like to see. I did use the conditioner that came with the box that I never do but since I chopped off all my hair I figured what the hell does it matter anyways, well that did not condition my hair in the least bit but I guess I knew that. The process was a bit easier since there was no dripping, I did get some dye on my skin and when I wiped it off at the end I found the same amount of staining on my skin as usual. I loved the no chemical smell but I didn't find my hair to feel like it was not abused by being dyed. I am super curious to see how long the color lasts before I need to redye.
The price is a bit much but I think I would purchase again especially if this was on sale, I just wish the selection was bigger but maybe they will broaden that later. Olia didn't give me any better color then most other dye's I have used previously.

I purchased the color thinking what a great concept but it turned out to be a colossal waste of time, energy and money. After completing all the steps (I am not a newcomer to the covering the grey camp), I was disheartened to see that none of the aluminum was hidden. My hair felt no different than had I used a regular hair color. Wouldn't buy this product again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Honestly, I don't think people are being honest in their reviews! I purchased this product based on some of "these reviews" that said, "Oh Yeah, it's great!" Or, "I just LOVED this formula!" But the real seller (I thought) were the reviews that talked about the "wonderful", or "vibrant"COLOR... their "totally amazing" experiences they all had with this product. Whatever! That's right! I'll be the first to tell you.... IT IS NOT ALL THAT! The real bitch of it is I have really, really long hair. Needless to say I had to purchase two boxes of this Garnier Olia. It smells ok, it feels ok, but exceptional color & shine? Um...NO! Even after following the instructions (and I mean to the letter! Even massaging this crap in BEFORE rinsing) the color results were DEFINATELY NOT EXCEPTIONAL! They were minimal at best on most of my hair, but on the roots?? OMG! I do have some grey, but that being said, my roots came out several shades lighter than the rest of my hair!! Did I mention I have really, really long hair? And INTENSE SCALP ITCHING... Holy Cow! And yes, I did the allergy test! I now have to wear a HAT to the store to purchase ANOTHER product to hopefully get the roots to match the rest of my hair (which did not color evenly. The underneath layers are my regular color. Looking as if the "oil infusion of color" only happens on grey hair?) But what I CAN report is that after ONE wash all that shine went BYE BYE and the softness? Went BYE BYE with the shine!! Bottom line: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! (I wasted twenty plus bucks)! A far gentler product, one I've also used and actually trust is from this line Garnier (I'm suprised too) is their HerbaShine formula with no ammonia. Its a far cry BETTER! Actually deposits the color and it stays (I'm suprised too), and no itchy scalp. I hope this actually HELPS someone so they don't go out and spend needlessly on an inferior product.

There has been so much hype on commercials and in-store displays about this new hair dye that I had to give this hair color a try.I decided to try light blonde.I was hoping they had a ash blonde but I'm still very happy with the results.

The bottle is genius its rounded near the bottom and tapers off into a thin spout at the top so its very easy to get at roots. It has a velvety creamy texture and has a really lovely floral scent with no ammonia added! It has 60 % oil blend with natural flower oils.

My hair really feels restored and not dry and damaged like a few dyes have done to my hair in the past.It also covered my grays perfectly.I really feel like the oil blend has gotten deep into my hair cuticles and my hair is so shiny and healthy looking. This is my new favorite hair dye a little pricey but worth it!

Garnier Olia is by far the best hair colour product I've ever used. Comparable to professional salon products. Colour looked natural. Didn't dry my hair out. No strong chemical smell. Will definitely use again!

This product delivers what it promises. It does not have bad ammonia scent and the color was effectively got into hair. Good Product. I just wished that there were more color choices.

I received a box of the new Garnier Olia hair dye from a friend, and I have to say that I really, really liked it! I was quite happily surprised by the colour, effectiveness and most astonishingly the nice smell!

The process was just like other out-of-the-box hair dye processes, except that I found this one asked you to leave the dye on for a little bit longer and after you left it for the recommended amount of time, you were supposed to rub your hair before washing it out. You could definitely feel that this product was much oiler than others (it is oil-based after all) when you were working it through.

I'll admit that I was curious about the non-ammonia smell that I held the bottle right up to my nose and took a sniff (I know, I know, my chemistry teacher from high school would be so appalled!) - and nada! The smell was actually kind of nice and not at all chemical-y.

I used the Deep Violet dye, and have to say that I've never received so many compliments. It came out a bit darker than the box showed (though I have dark hair to begin with so I wasn't too surprised), and I found that the colour had a lot of dimension to it. It also looked super shiny and my hair felt nice and soft afterwards.

I've been dying my hair for years (both in salon and at home) and I can say that I've never used anything twice. Garnier Olia's Deep Violet colour will change that as I'll definitely use it again.
