Had an allergic reaction
I had an allergic reaction to the product when I did the patch test. It caused a rash so I couldn’t try the product. Glad I read the instructions and did the patch test.
I bought this on clearance from Shopper's yesterday for $8.00.
This is the sort of story where "I love the restaurant, but then I got food poisoning."
First impressions - a little wasteful in the packaging department. There was an extra empty bottle to mix step 1&2;in, rather than just add the second ingredient into the first already half-full bottle.
The black gloves were chic, and salon feeling.
The dye smells FABULOUS. No ammonia - no burning.
I went with the 5.5 mahogany colour, to put on top of my light brown hair. The result was HORRIBLY PATCHY! I had random black streaks, and spots where the colour didn't take at all. I have been dying at home for a long, long, long time, and I know that I covered my whole head in product. I was going to go back and buy another box, because where the colour was right, I LOVED it. Even the black streaks could have been interesting, if they weren't accompanied by weird light patches.
I decided to read some reviews before going to buy another box. The reviews were mostly awful - lots of people complaining about the patchiness, and one who even said she re-dyed, and got the same result with the same patches not taking the colour.
I went with a diffent product (with burny ammonia) and got great coverage.
I am glad it was only $8.00, but it was still a waste of money. Where the colour took, was amazing, which only made it worse that it was patchy :( I would have loved to have my whole head the correct colour.
This product was not only a waste of money, but EXTREMELY frustrating!! I had heard a lot about this product and was excited to try it. My stylist went on mat leave, so I decided to go back to at-home colour until she came back. MAJOR MISTAKE!!!! I have long hair and always need 2 bottles. 2 bottles on my just past shoulder length hair didnt suffice!! Additionally, I have naturally auburn-med brown hair, so decided to go with light brown to ensure it didnt end up too dark. Again, MAJOR MISTAKE!! Light brown on medium hair ENDED UP ALMOST BLACK!
The mixing and bottle were frustrating! The bottle shape was awkward to use, and I ended up with colour spots on my ceiling..... CEILING!!!!! It splattered!! Over a year later, and 2 paint jobs, the spots are still there!! I have never had this amount of splatter with a product! Had I known in advance, there is absolutely no way I would risk it!!
The ABSOLUTE WORST PART was trying to wash the product out!! My hair was so dry, it was literally a rats nest! I BROKE A METAL COMB IN MY HAIR!!! Both tubes of rinse, 10 minutes of scrubbing, and combing while rinsing.. The colour was still rinsing out, and I was literally in tears trying to get the knots out!! It took half a bottle of colour-protect conditioner to stop the colour from running, and to be able to brush it! After rinsing the conditioner out, again I couldnt get a brush through my hair!! I applied argan oil, which I use for straightening, and although it helped, I still wasnt able to brush it until my hair was completely dry.
Even after several washes, the colour stayed dark! Ended up having to pay over $350 at the salon to have the damage caused by this product fixed! It chemically burned my hair!!!
There are HUNDREDS of home hair colour products, DONT RISK IT!!! DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!
I purchased the color thinking what a great concept but it turned out to be a colossal waste of time, energy and money. After completing all the steps (I am not a newcomer to the covering the grey camp), I was disheartened to see that none of the aluminum was hidden. My hair felt no different than had I used a regular hair color. Wouldn't buy this product again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Dyed my hair 5 days ago and my gray roots are very visible. The product does not cover gray.
