100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
When you use it, you'll understand the price!
If you move in beauty/stylist or even celebrity circles or fan circles GHD is the brand you’ll hear come up a ton when people talk about the best straighteners. I’m not gonna mince my words, it’s very expensive. I’m notoriously frugal, so for me I feel the price is very high, but the reality is this is a darn good straightener. People always say when you use a GHD, you’ll know why it’s expensive and I have to agree with that one hundred percent.
I’ve primarily used straighteners on the cheaper end of the scale, with a couple of more ‘luxury’ ones at the 100ish price point. None of them come close to this. I have short hair now (long pixie), but I was really impressed with the GHD’s ability to straighten in one pass. My hair is thick and naturally wavy and one of GHD’s brags is that they have a lower temp that doesn’t damage hair as much, so how can it straighten as well as a higher temp straightener? I guess that’s one of the mysteries of why they are so good.
Usually when I straighten my hair there will be some broken hairs or it will get a bit frizzy (especially later), but with one pass of these straighteners my hair was thin, perfectly straight and had no stick-ups or frizz. It lasted a day and a half until my shower. Even after my shower my hair looks straighter than usual...I’m just shocked and beyond impressed.
It was also very comfortable to use and didn’t pinch too tightly or tug on my hair like some cheaper straighteners. It’s so comfortable to hold, glides smoothly and does the job quickly. Even visually with the design, the quality and luxury is there. There’s a lot of nice touches, like how the logo is always placed cleverly and enhances the luxury feel. I was a tad concerned about the button being on the inside, but my fingers never even came close to the plates. It also comes with a very handy silicone cover so you can have extra protection when leaving them to cool!
Feature-wise, it’s designed mostly to straighten hair amazingly well, but it does have a few good features. It plays a tone when turning on or off and again when it’s hot. It also heats up crazy fast, within 20 seconds it’s ready to go, meaning you get perfect hair from the first stroke. It also has a safety shut-off for if you forget to unplug it.
I know they will still be too expensive for some, but you know your own financial situation. If you straighten your hair a lot, or need it to be healthier and straight longer, I fully recommend these. I found they definitely outpaced my cheaper straighteners and left them in the dust. For those who straighten daily and need a fast, efficient and amazing straightener, you’ve found it.
