I overall really liked this book. The way the author tells the story from the different perspectives is very interesting and I found I sympathized with both characters based on the told perspective. Once you get into this book it is hard to put it down! It is a bit dark/twisted story so may not be for everyone but I think I would read this book again!
Gone Girl was a little tough to get into at first and the story switching perspectives was hard to follow and then something just clicked and made sense. It was an interesting story in that when you thought it was going in one direction, you are blindsided by a twist and you go "oh". It was interesting and the story played on the readers emotions. I enjoyed this book.
This book is one of those that you just can't put down. I loved the story until the end, where it became a bit unbelievable. I would give it a 4/5.
I absolutely love the dark and mysterious storyline. It keeps you hooked. I read the book after I watched the movie and the movie was really good. Definitely going to read more books by Gillian Flynn!
I really enjoyed this book even after watching the movie. It's dark, mysterious and twisted. Keeps you wondering how much further this couple will push one another. A lot more details in the book vs the movie. I would love to read more novels by this writer.
A really good read. I found the first half to be a bit slow, but once the twist was introduced, my interest perked up. I had so many mixed feelings towards the main characters- sometimes I loved them, sometimes I hated them, sometimes I just wanted to shake them!
I would recommend this book, especially for travel.
You know that term "unputdownable"? That. I picked up Gone Girl at an airport on a Monday morning. I finished it at breakfast on Tuesday.
Look, I wanted to pace myself, but it was just so well written. Chapters ending on cliffhangers, shifting narratives, original plot twists... There's just no obvious point to pause in your reading.
Do read this before you see the movie, and if you've seen the movie, don't let that put you off. Flynn does such a brilliant job putting you inside her characters' heads, showing you all the dark thoughts and secrets that just can't be conveyed on screen.
And try to go into the book knowing as little as possible. I've heard a few people say that they could see certain things coming, and that's probably down to the buzz around the book. Just go for it. And don't forget to turn off your phone.
This was such an exciting, edge of your seat book to read. I couldn't wait to read the next chapter. #GoneGirl "by Gillian Flynn" is a must read. I also enjoyed the movie but I found the book better.
