Oh don't get me wrong, it works. But the first time a child is sick you cannot wash the inside of the mat to kill the germs and soaking the bleach to it or anything you do will not kill it. My daughter stayed sick almost constantly until I threw that thing away! Once they are sick and put in those, they will keep germs no matter how hard or what you do to clean it.
I was given a playpen very similar to this one when I had my first baby 18 years ago. I’m not sure if the price was the same, but it was pretty much the same thing only mine was blue. It was great because I could take it any where I went in the carrying case that came with it. It was very easy and fast to set up not to mention how easy it was to clean. All I had to do was take a damp cloth to it, make sure it was dry and pack it away until our next trip out. Not ounce did I have any trouble with it falling down even when my son had started standing and jumping in it. So it’s very safe as long as you’re sure you put it together properly. It gives the baby room to move around, play and even take a nap with out you having to worry about them. The Totblock Pack ‘n Play Playard is great for visits to grandmas, trips away and for your own home inside, or out.
If all you need is a basic, easily transportable pack 'n play, then look no further than the simple Graco TotBlock Pack 'n Play.
It collapses quickly for storage or to pop in your trunk and comes with a carrying bag. The mesh sides allow baby to see what's going on and have plenty of fresh air while minimizing the impact of a sudden burst of air (like opening your front door). It has a simple reinforced mat that is perhaps 1-1.5 inches thick, so it gives them a little cushioning but still all the support they need.
It is not good for older children who might be ready to climb out, as it can quickly tip over if big kids are straddling the top bar (learned that one the hard way), but for infants, it's the best bed-away-from-home you could wish for.
I thought about one of those playards that has the extra doodads like a removable changing table, etc, but honestly, I find things with more parts to ultimately be a hassle and likely to interfere.
I used this playard for all 3 of my kids and it's still in fantastic shape. Recommended!
