I absolutely love this primer. It’s leaves my skin feels so hydrated while keeping my foundation in place. Its buttery soft feeling helps with minimizing my pores. It’s non sticky formula with no weird smell or fragrance. This primer is a must try for those with combo skin.

Smooth to apply

First off, I loved this primer from the first time I used it. It smells good, it’s lightweight and glides on so easily. It helped to keep my makeup looking good all day, and I liked that it is supposed to help blur pores. However, I didn’t notice that it did upon first couple uses. With the weather being all over the place where I live, I liked that it helps hydrate my skin as well. Overall, I am usually a fan of GA products and this is no different

My new favourite primer!

Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer✨

I am already a huge fan of #grownalchemist products and was so excited to try their newly reformulated skin defense primer (formerly called Anti-Pollution Primer).

With aging skin I find it so important to use products that nurture my skin and Grown Alchemist products do just that. I only use primer, concealer, eyeliner and mascara in my makeup routine so when I find a good primer, it makes my life and makeup, so much better.

I adore this primer as it is unlike anything I’ve used before. It blurs imperfections and pores, while lessening the look of wrinkles, but it is completely silicone-free! It has been the most amazing primer for use under my makeup 👏🏻

I appreciate that it reinforces a barrier between my skin and environmental stressors, containing adaptogenic ingredients like Reishi Mushroom, Ashwagandha and pre-biotic peptides. It also smells good, is vegan friendly, gluten free, and a positive luxury product.

I have been using it daily after applying my favourite Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream and I can visibly feel and see the difference in my overall skin texture and appearance. My skin feels hydrated and the appearance of fine lines and other textural issues are minimized/smoothed/blurred 🧖🏼‍♀️

Like a moisturizer and blurring primer all in one!

When you first open up the product, it comes out as a clear matte gel (the kind of primer that blurs pores) and has a nice citronella type scent that I really enjoyed and it doesn’t linger throughout the day.

When you apply it, it has a smooth satin blurring finish and it doesn’t leave your face feeling dry at all. My foundation also applied really seamlessly on top and didn’t pill or bunch up, nor look cakey.

In terms of wear, as someone with oily skin, I still needed to blot or powder halfway through the day. However, that’s the usual case for my skin anyway and I really like all the skincare benefits in terms of hydration in a mattifying primer and also strengthening my skin barrier.

It’s like a moisturizer and blurring primer all in one, making it a better replacement than moisturizer before my foundation (as someone with oily skin)!

Great Primer!

I have received Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer for free in exchange for my honest opinion. The primer has a subtle scent and a refreshing texture. Once applied on my face skin, it is easily absorbed. It leaves a thin protective layer after which you can apply your make up for a smooth finish. Highly recommended.

Hydrating and blurring

I found this primer to be extraordinarily hydrating to very dry skin. Once applied, it sinks in to your skin like a water gel and leaves it matte and pores, dryness blurred. Because of this my makeup applied smooth and stayed put throughout the day and outside weather conditions.

Perfect for combo skin!

I, sadly, have combo skin so a good primer is the difference between ending the day with an oil field in my T-zone or looking decent. This primer did the job quite well! It comes out as a clear gel that lathers well and dries super quickly. It has a blurring effect on my pores (thankfully) and more importantly, I wore it for 8-10 hour and my makeup did not budge one bit. I ended the day as gorgeous as I started 😌

I wore it over my spf and under my liquid fondation which glided and settled perfectly like a dream. The only minus is that when I applied my cream concealer over it (MAC colour correcting palette) , I found out that if I rub it in instead of dabbing, there’s slight piling. It’s not visible but I can feel it a bit since I use my finger for application. So dab, don’t rub!


Overall I simply loved this product! If you have combo skin, this is the primer for you!

Nice hydrating clear primer

I liked this primer as it is very hydrating with very minimal fragrance and it is clear which was surprising to me. It provides a smooth texture to your skin which acts like a wonderful base for a great makeup.

I must have for flawless makeup base

I love how amazing this primer works to make my skin look or less and help my make up settles so smoothly and nicely on my skin ever since I have started using this primer of my make up base looks flawless and everybody keeps asking me what I’ve been using on my face can’t recommend this product enough. Love it.
