Smooth finnish and great scent

I have been looking for something to help my makeup last past lunchtime. I got to try the Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer and found it to be a great fit into my every day routine. The formula left my skin feeling soft and skily and was a great layer to add my day to day makeuo. It helped the longevity to my daily makeup as well.
The soft scent was a bonus too!

Smooth like buttah

I don't always use primers, but tend to turn to them more during the dry winter months, applying them after my morning moisturizer and before my foundation. I find that the extra boost of moisture helps my skin stay more hydrated throughout the day. The only downside to layering so many products is it can sometimes highlight larger pores and fine lines. That's why my preference has usually been to use "blurring" primers, which unfortunately rely heavily on silicones. This formula promises (and delivers) blurred pores without any silicones whatsoever. The formula is quite gentle and natural, especially when compared to other primers on the market. It includes things like mushroom extract, lavender oil, rose flower oil, grapefruit peel oil, and more. After using it for a straight week under a powder foundation (yes, probably not the best choice for the winter), I can see a noticeable difference in my makeup application and the way it holds up throughout the day. The pores around my nasal folds are less noticeable and my laugh lines do seem to be softened. I also recently damaged by hydration barrier using a particular cleanser, so have been trying to rehydrate my skin and ensure that it stays well-moisturized throughout the day. I found that this primer really helped lock in the moisture to the point that my skin still felt good and hydrated by the time I was removing my makeup in the evening. I really do like having this handy, but am not totally sure whether I'll repurchase given the price point. Yes, a little goes a long way, but at this price for a primer, I'd expect it to last me the entire year.

Nice Primer!

This is a great primer from Grown Alchemist. I have to knock it down to 4 stars as I'm not a fan of using scent on my face. It does smell lovely and it is all natural, but it does smell like I'm putting hand cream on my face. The primer is really smooth and silky though and those who don't mind scent will thoroughly enjoy this.

Exciting product

This primer has been a game changer. I have some fine lines and this really fills them in and softens them out. It leaves my skin so smooth and silky, and lays well under makeup - no pilling at all. I was originally worried that a smoothing primer may dry out my skin, but my face felt surprisingly soft and moisturized after using it. PS. This has a scent to it but it does fade away shortly after application, so for those who don’t like scented products at all, this may be something to keep in mind when weighing your options.

Matte and Blurred

I loved using this on the daily! It has a scent to it, but it isn't too strong or overwhelming. It did a great job at mattifying my skin and keeping it that way throughout the day. I also noticed that the appearance of my pores was less and blurred. The ingredients in this are amazing and didn't cause any irritation or breakouts for me. I'm going to continue using this in my routine.

Leaves skin looking radiant and beautiful

I covered my entire face with a generous amount of this primer before applying my foundation (Makeup by Mario). I have never used a primer like this one before. It doesn't leave your skin feeling heavy or sticky; instead, it melts into the skin nearly instantly. My skin is radiant and lovely after using it. Considering that most primers cause acne on my skin, this product's ability to not cause breakouts and protect my skin from environmental pollutants is quite impressive. Love it!

What a beautiful product! I loved the texture, which looks like a gel. It applies really well, it leaves a nice feeling of freshness on the skin and it makes my foundation last all day! I also liked the citrus scent of the product!

Lovely formula, but urgh that smell!

Okay, so the hype on this one is legitimate. You get a decent amount in the tube, which happens to be metallic so you will get every last drop, this is a pro. It goes on smoothly and makes a fantastic base under makeup - another pro. It has some great claims and if they are true - a pro. The one and only con - and its a biggie - is the smell! I dont mind a little scent but this smells so strongly of lavender I worry it could cause a reaction with heavy repeated use. It also clashes with my fragrance. Also, lavender?! Why would I ever want to smell like my grandma's panty drawer? NOPE. I love this stuff, but its pricey and smells far too strong of lavender oil for my liking so for the pricetag and the scent I could never recommend this to anyone.

I love primers so I was so excited to receive the new updated Grown Alchemist Skin Defense Primer. Feels like heaven on the skin

Here’s the thing that shook me, I could swear this was silicone based due to the look and texture. The way it glided onto my skin so effortlessly, the way it made my skin noticeably smoother to the touch instantly BUT WITHOUT that heavy silicone feel. I went onto Sephora’s website just to double check and yah …IT’S SILICONE FREE! 🤯 

It comes out looking thick at first but glides on and melts into skin. It’s so lightweight and super hydrating. Felt like my skin could breathe still which is not the case with my usual silicone based primer. This felt like heaven on my skin. 

It visibly blurred but did not work miracles on my pores is what I initially thought but the next day when I used it again I used more product on my textured areas and wow wow wow! I swear it’s puzzling how it can erase my pores like magic and yet feel so light and hydrating! 

A little goes a long way, so little product is needed. It glides all over skin easily and you can go back to add more just to troubled areas.

It matted my skin only slightly which I do prefer. It won’t leave you looking flat, dull or dry like some matte products do. This delivers a perfect balance, you’ll look healthy but not oily.

Scent is super clean and pleasant.
Did not pill or have any difficulty applying makeup on top.
