very brassy and not enough to dye hair
I received this product along with the got2b creative in luxurious red #gotitfree to sample. It worked well however I have a fair length of hair and there wasn't even enough to cover 1/3 of it. It took really well at my scalp (resulting in a blonde/orange/brassy) look and didn't take at all on the lower half of my hair that had the product on it. I am now stuck booking an appointment with a hairdresser to bleach my hair so it looks alright (my fault I guess for assuming there would be enough dye, probably needed 2/3 boxes). Along side the use of toner it probably would have looked nice.
not intended for dark hair?
I feel like the box leaves the perception that this will lighten it to platinum but It really doesn't, at least not in 1 application. I have long dark brown hair and it was able to lift but only to golden colour and there wasn't a lot of product for me to be able to use again to try to lighten more. I think the other problem i have with this is that its a "one box fits all" product. People with light hair really wouldn't need the same level of developer as dark hair so it also makes me hesitant about using this if i already lightened my hair to a golden colour after the first application. I would honestly suggest going to a beauty store and getting supplies there instead of a box like this.
Not as blonde or platinum as the box
I received this product for free as part of Chickadvisor's review club. This came in a box along with the semi permanent "Creative" hair dye, in a luxurious red color.
I was hesitant to try this product as I bleached my hair many years ago and it resulted in some long lasting damage. Hair tends to be very dry and straw like when you attempt to strip it of its color. However this lightener worked well and did not burn my scalp like other colorants have. If you have medium to long hair, you will need a second box to achieve the proper color. I found that for some reason, the roots of my hair ended up being lighter than the tips and this is probably due to the heat that your head generates. A trick, if you want to obtain faster, more even results, try placing all your dyed hair in a shower cap or wrap to preserve and distribute heat more evenly. This will activate the bleach.
In combination with the red dye that I was also provided, I was able to achieve nice looking results, but I have to say it was a long and messy process. Overall this stains your clothes and never looks as nice as the salon result.
