We are almost out of our traditional light bulbs, thus it is inevitable that we are starting to replace them with LED lights.

We have used other alternate light bulbs in the past, and due to low, dim, and unpredictable results, we preferred the lighting effects of traditional bulbs.

This bulb arrived and it looks like a mini flood light.

It is a normal bulb end (comparable to traditional bulbs), with frosted sides and the floodlight end is white.

The first bulb I replaced was our kitchen exhaust system light. I find that the bulb used there currently makes the hood itself quite hot, and the bulb always emits a lot of heat. We also tend to leave this light on during the evenings, so it’s using up a lot of electricity.

I removed the traditional bulb about 30 minutes after I turned the light off, and easily replaced it with the Hyperikon LED bulb. The light it emits is definitely a lot brighter than the traditional bulb, and that being said, does not emit light in any direction other than the direction it is pointing.

As the kitchen exhaust fan light points sideways, this bulb does not work for the lighting needs of this particular area (too bright pointing at eye level and not directing light downwards towards the stove.

I did leave it in for a few hours (on) just to see how it reacted anyhow. When I turned the light off, I was able to put my hand right on the bulb, and the hood wasn’t hot like normal!

This bulb does work nicely in my bathroom (2 bulbs were out, so perfect timing!) and emits the right light in the proper direction (downwards).

It feels like a hard plastic base – not like traditional glass bulbs – so if for some reason you do need to move it, it won’t break if it falls. I also attribute the material being the reason that the bulb itself does not really get hot.

The 5 year warranty is also unheard of to me – in my mind that means this is a stellar product that will have minimal issues in the future.

I will definitely be replacing our bulbs as they burn out with LED lights to save on electricity costs and so we don’t have to replace bulbs for a few decades!
