I finished this book in two days last year. Her TED talk made me cry like a baby and her story really intrigued me to read her book. The author is a North Korean defector and she published this book to inform how she escaped from her home country. Her novel put me in a perspective where I cannot compare her childhood struggle with mine. Some people might be suffering from depression or bullied during their younger years, but Park struggled to LIVE since the very young age. After reading her novel, it made me cherish my life even more due to its simplicity. It also made me be more aware how not a lot of people understand the struggle between North and South Korea after talking to my entourage about it. I definitely felt more cultured and I highly recommend reading this book. A real eye opener!
