Very thick

This stuff is thick, so you might guess you should mix it with conditioner. It's actually so thick you'll still see clumps of it when you do. What I do is I mix it with boiling water first, then mixed the coloured water with the conditioner to get it to that nice paste. Now the real problem is the whole process of mixing and dying your hair is so messy and this stuff STAINS when you get it in dark colours (mainly blues and greens). Please mix it in with something you plan on throwing out like takeout containers + plastic spoons/forks. I got the colour aqua, and blue and green semi permanents are notorius for lasting a long time. Now when I say it stains, it stains. It won't stain as much in brown hair, but in blonde/orange hair it will fade in about a week or 2, and then it'll leave your hair green for eternity. I used this to dye my orange hair an emerald green and after furiously washing it for about a month it never budged. I ended up rebleaching my hair and it still left a green tint to hair (though not as bad). About a month after rebleaching my hair it started to yellow because the toner had washed out. I had thought I was finally free from this curse but once I toned it again it was still there. Eventually, the only way I got it out was by cutting it off. I now use it to add ash tones to my brown hair.

I was very excited to try this product, I saw so many awesome reviews about the original application product and at first I felt the same... excited it looked great but soon after a wash or two later I found its left a very blue hue in my hair. I really wish it had stayed the original grey because I could have loved it!!

Generally I prefer to stick to professional products because they're higher quality, effective and controllable. But when I was doing a dramatic hair colour change I unfortunately ran out of my favourite product and had to run to Sally's and pick up some dye. I bought the best matching shade and got two just in case. The price is good but I found the texture extremely thick to try to work through the hair and had to use two tubes just to get into a third of my hair density. I left it on a long while to allow the most penetration but it hardly deposited into my pre-lightened hair. It tinted it enough to blend the hair and be able to leave the house. And if you get great results with your experience then good for you especially if you have no access to pro products. I get why they are popular with their brilliant colours but for now on I will just make sure I have a ton of my regular product in the future :)
