I LOVE this product.
I have been dying my hair since I was 14 (now almost 26) and I have tried other brands verisons of foam. I instantly fell in love with this product. It was SUPER easy to mix and apply. It's not messy either (unless you're me and make a mess out of anything!). I got the medium brown shade and it looks great. The price is a bit steep, but I used the coupon I got (which covered the price of the dye) and it's totally worth the money. The gloves actually fit my small hands.
I would recomend this product to anyone who wants a change in hair color or who hates cleaning the bathroom after dying your hair!!!!!
O yea, the conditioner....Love how you get a little bottle instead of a small package that doesn't even cover half of my hair!
I loved that product, i coloured my hair so often due to grey hair and it does help. Like the foam less work to put it on. :)
After using this foam colour for the last few times I've dyed my hair at home, I would never use anything else!
Contrary to some of the other reviews about the colour, I used the medium chocolate brown and it was just as described! I had a reddish brown hair to start, and this colour went just fine over that to do the chocolate brown. I have gotten loads of complements on the colour of my hair as well, which is not something I usually get!
This foam is so easy and user friendly, just follow the directions in the package as is. The foam is easy to apply, and with hair just below my shoulders (medium length i suppose) there is more than enough foam in the bottle. I apply to the roots first, splitting just as on the directions, and then lather like my shampoo. The smell is great, not at all like normal hair dye, and because it's so foamy and wet, its so easy to make sure you haven't missed a spot when doing it on your own. It doesn't stain towels or anything either as far as I've noticed, except my head a little bit which is normal for me and goes away quite quickly.
I've tried other foams before and been really disappointed, but this one has been fabulous every time I've used it (about 4 times now). My hair looks great, smells great, and feels great. Especially for just a little more than regular brands, it's still way less than paying at a salon and way easier than a normal dye.
I picked this up when I was at my local Shoppers Drug Mart.
This was the only red in stock. Wished I waited until they had the deeper red in stock.
This was a complementary box so I saved C$14.99.
Before you start, you should read the instructions.
This is a foam hair dye and not your usual gel/liquid one.
It only fills 1/3 of the bottle and I wondered if it was enough.
When I squeezed the bottle, it produced alot of foam.
It was plenty enough. I even had some left over.
When I was killing time, my head tingles (almost itchy) and I can hear the foam popping away - rice crispy surround sound.
I found it so easy to use and less messy.
The result:
It is not "red" enough but its okay
I noticed my roots are coloured but not so much at the ends.
Next time, I would try the deeper & brighter red.
At least I don't see any greys :o
*Update* Few weeks later I end up really liking it.
Maybe it is a good thing that it is not bright red since I work at the office and not a tattoo parlour :)
I used this product the other day for the first time. And it was my first time dying my hair. The product was so simple to use and the directions were clear and concise. As a person who suffers from Arthretic hands It was easy to use and easy to apply. The formula was low odour and it did not smell bad and it was easy to apply with no drips and no hassel. The conditioner included was great and it left my hair feeling soft and shiny. I would highly recommend this product and would use it again.
Maybe too good. After using the other foam colour I was extremely gun shy, but again being given this product free to test out, I thought, "well it's only hair".
I have dark brown hair, so I choose VR3, I wanted a deep red, something shimmering for the spring and summer. It went almost black, however in the sun shine I have these gorgeous red highlights thanks in part to my grey roots.
It's a little different as it asks you to tilt, not shake to mix, don't worry it does blend and blend well. Once you start to apply, do not worry to much about rubbing it in, apply all the mixture you need first, then pretend it's shampoo. I left it on the extra 10mins due to my grey hair, however next time I will not. One thing I did notice was that there was no harsh smell at all, I did not choke, feel overwhelmed and could sit with my family instead of being forced to sit in the bathroom.
The colour rinses out easily, I usually need my husband to help, not this time, the conditioning cream could be better however it does the job. Over the next few days what I noticed most was that it did not bleed onto my pillow, come out after washing, or onto the towel while drying. I find that with red hair dye it can bleed or fade very easy, John Frieda has done a great job making sure this does not happen.
I will use this product again, I will just adjust the time and colour until I find what works well for me. I recommend that you do the same. As with anything what works well for some may not work for all. Give it a try, I think you will like it.
It is super easy to use, though not as easy as the video makes it look . . . I think there may be a learning curve. After you mix it you tilt it rather than shake, and it looks odd, like it's not mixed. But then when you squeeze the bottle, the foam comes out as promised . . . so make sure you don't shake, and just don't worry about how odd it looks! The foam applies easily and doesn't make a huge mess, wait until it's all in your hair and then start massaging it in, kind of like you're washing your hair. I don't know that it's possible to do this without tangling your hair if it's long, no matter how gently you massage it. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and rinse. It rinses really easily and quickly, and I used a detangler before I used the supplied conditioner. Hair doesn't feel as soft and silky as it does after I use the Nice 'n Easy conditioner, but it's okay. I am not sure about the color though. I have medium brown hair that has been getting saturated from all the color and wanted to lighten it a bit, so went with light golden brown. It came out much darker than I was hoping, but that may just be my over processed hair. It covered more or less evenly, but again, not as great as I was hoping. I got the product free, but I don't know that it's worth the price I've seen in the stores, $12.99 to $14.99 depending on where you buy it. Not sure if I would use it again unless I can figure out how to get the color I want. I recommend it somewhat reluctantly.
i have tried the john frieda foam color, i personally love the way it coloured my hair, i did have to leave it in longer than it suggests only because i know that my grey is hard to cover, but it did work on at least 97% of my grey, so i am happy with that, plus the way it makes my hair feel and smell after, i loved that the most.
the smell of it was not over powering with perfuming scent, just a nice fresh scent.
its been a week now and my hair is still very soft, and looking good.
What I like about this product is the variety of shades and colours and the fact that the colours feel new and modern to me, they aren't the old, stale colours you can tell are from a home box. It gives good coverage and one box will cover an entire head (even if you have long hair like I do!). I found that this dye is pretty subtle. I have medium dark brown hair and I went for a reddish lighter brown shade and while I did see some lightening and some red, it wasn't extreme. Most people didn't notice it, or if they did, it was just a small difference. It didn't hurt my hair at all, I felt like my hair was soft after I had dyed it. It had a pleasant scent to it too. It does fade within the first three washes I would say, but after that it doesn't really fade anymore. I'd like it if it did last shinier for longer but I think thats more of a science problem than anything else.
The packaging of the product is very attractive and nice, it's a bit pricier than other home dyes (compare 11 to 9) but I really like the foam feature and found it easier to apply. It has a non drip formula, which holds true but it is still possible to make a mess with this one! I'm very happy with my colour, as small a change as it was and I think I would use this dye again.
I received this dye for free from John Frieda.
I love colouring my hair! I'm not a big fan of the mess sometimes though! When the "foam" hair colour started appearing I decided I'd try it out! I've tried a couple brands now; the Clairol Nice N' Easy foam as well as the L'Oreal Sublime Mousse. I love the concept. Less mess, for the most part! My mom will be with me 100% on that one, I always drip on the floor, sink, etc. There are stains to prove it. I was extrememly lucky to get the chance to try the John Frieda Precision Foam Colour thanks to my work. The reps came in with a handful of them so they could do "before & after" photos of us.
It claims to provide "flawless coverage you thought you could only get at a salon. No drips, no stains – just gorgeous-looking hair from every angle." Its supposed to be able to even out the hair colour and look absolutely perfect! Its available in 30 different shades ranging from blonde to black! Of course, this product will NOT lighten your hair, only enhance your current colour or darken it!! I chose the shade 3VR or Radiant Red Deep Cherry Brown. Now it was time to test it out!
One of the first things I noticed when I opened the box was the black salon style gloves as well as the massive container of conditioner! Usually in a box hair colour, the conditioner is about 20mLs at best. In this box, the conditioner is 50mLs & it smells delicious! I mixed the colour and developer and tilted the bottle 5 times as directed. It didn't look like much product at all! Then it was time to apply! I squeezed the bottle and my hand was filled with the perfect amount of foam. I definitely noticed how dense this foam was compared to the other foamy hair colours. There was NO mess at all! It was fabulous! Also, it doesn't have too horrible of a scent while applying the colour. Its quite mild and completely bearable. I applied all over my head as directed, waited 30 minutes and rinsed!
I applied the conditioner and like most box hair colour my hair felt instantly replenished. It smells phenomenal though, some box dyes don't smell too fabulous and your hair ends up smelling like the dye afterwards still. Not the case with this one at all, I keep getting whifs of it and it still smells great. My hair is very shiny and soft which I like also. The colour is very vibrant and it definitely is uniform. It is a little darker than I expected, but again, it will fade out to a lighter shade as does any hair colour. This is definitely my favourite foam colour I've tried yet. I don't have any complaints at all. I've only just tested it, so we'll see how well the colour lasts. But I do have to factor in that it is a red shade which tends to fade out quicker, but hopefully it will stand up next to the other brands I've tested!
Overall, I absolutely love this hair colour product. The smell, texture and effectiveness is fabulous and I would definitely recommend testing it out. There are 30 shades so it is a fairly wide range of colours and it is also affordable at about 11 dollars Canadian.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
