Meh I've had better for way cheaper
This foundation looks great when you first put it on, but by the end if the day it doesn't look so nice. I also find it gives me acne everytime I wear it. Although it is okay for how highlight looks layered on it. Kind of a dewy look.
I was really looking forward to trying this and really excited but ended up being very disappointed. Made me break out and was expensive. Would not buy again
I received a sample of the Josie Maran Vibrancy Argan Oil Foundation Fluid with an order from Sephora. It gave me a shade choice and I chose Dynamic which is the lightest shade available and was the only option for sample that would be close to my fair complexion. This foundation is made with organic argan oil and natural and organic ingredients. It’s paraben free, gluten free and cruelty free with no synthetic fragrance. It is a medium to full coverage foundation for a glowing complexion and is available in 13 shades. It’s sold for $55.00 Canadian at Sephora. I was really drawn in by the fun packaging but I had a bad feeling about the argan oil because I have an oily/combination complexion.
I used the MAC Oil Control lotion as a precaution and then after applying the foundation there was still a pretty dewy finish so when I set my foundation with my MAC Prep + Prime Translucent Pressed Powder, I used a little more than I normally do. I also skipped using a shimmering highlight to avoid any extra shininess if the foundation didn’t agree with my oily skin. It applied really smoothly and the colour was great for my complexion but I regretted not applying a little concealer before my powders. It has a smell that I couldn’t quite figure out. Overall it looked pretty good!
After about two and a half hours I felt like my face had begun to sort of turn orange but it didn’t really look like it on my camera so I thought maybe it was the lighting. Still not super oily at this point.
By the time 1 o’clock rolled around I had to do a few mild touch ups with concealer. Using a brush to dust on any powder or touching my face with my fingers just moved the foundation around. At 2 o’clock I asked my co-worker for her opinion and she said it still looked freshly applied, which made me feel a lot better. She said it gave me a bit of a more tanned look but not in an overdone, orange sort of way and it still blended into my neck so it wasn’t awful. To me, this meant the foundation did oxidize a little because it was normal and fair in the morning. I didn’t feel like my blush sat well over this foundation after a few hours. Once I looked at myself in a big mirror and not my little compact mirror, my face did still look pretty fresh and smooth and I felt more confident.
After work I washed my face and reapplied my foundation. After a couple of hours my skin had a really beautiful dewy glow without looking too oily, which gave me more faith in the foundation. It would still require a concealer. I did feel like it was helping to improve my skin tone although it’s hard to tell after only a day. It was really easy to wash off which meant no scrubbing, which could have contributed to my skin looking better after washing it off.
I gave the foundation a second chance the next day. I used the MAC Prep + Prime Skin primer and I set the finished look with the NYX Matte Setting Spray. I use concealer and had to touch up a few spots with concealer because applying the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour palette with a brush moved the foundation around a bit. Again, I didn’t really feel like powder sat well on top of this foundation but I was still pretty please with the overall look. When noon rolled around on Day 2, my makeup did look better than it did at this point on Day 1. It didn’t oxidize on Day 2 the way it seemed to on Day 1.
Overall, I would say it was a good foundation. It felt lightweight on my skin. I didn’t get excessively oily or react to this foundation any differently than I normally do. It didn’t crack but I did feel like it settled into my pores a little. It gave me pretty good coverage but I did require a concealer for some spots anyway. I probably wouldn’t personally spend the fifty-five dollars on it because that seems like a lot, but it felt really nice on my skin. I don’t know if I would feel good about depending on it to get me through a really long day but it would be fine for a 8-10 hour stretch. I sometimes get break outs where my skin gets super dry and I think this would be a foundation that I would use more at times like that for the extra hydration.
