I currently am a monthly subscriber to the Julep Box Maven. I love nail polish. I love everything involved with nails !!! Obsessed you can say.
At first I went all gung-ho and ordered tons and tons of nailpolish through Julep, they have some amazing sales and codes for half off etc.
However, after a couple of months, my fondness for Julep has gone down hill. First of all the monthly boxes take almost a month to arrive.
Secondly, the polish formulas are hit and miss, some are dark, luscious and only need one coat and do not chip at all !! Then others need 3 coats, looks streaky and chips way too easily.
If you have been a subscriber for awhile you can "skip" the monthly box if you choose to .. but as a new subscriber you only get 2 skips a year. I do not think that is fair .. with all the good deals they have all month long, people are buying from them, I do not think you should have to take a particular box if it does not fit your fancy .. the only good thing about the boxes - you have 5 to choose from.
If you purchase a certain number of items in a given month they will give you some gifts - FREE .. everyone loves free - however its usually dried up least popular colours that you get, that was a little disappointing.
Some of their polishes are absolutely GORGEOUS ( Queen Anne is amazing) and I love getting new polishes, but I think the novelty has warn off, as I can get just as good polish on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart (Essie, Sally Hensen) once I get the full collection of the Monthly birthstones polish (last one in December) I will be parting ways with Julep.
It has been a great friendship, but it just isn't enough anymore.
If you have extra cash, and like spoiling yourself .. this is a great gift to give to yourself !! I do give the warning that the novelty will wear off quickly.
I had a subscription for a while but cancelled it. I was finding more and more that the colours were not my thing and the quality was inconsistent. The ones I love are great, but overall, not super impressed. I'd rather go to Sephora where I can pick and choose what I can get.
The price is good. I have been a Maven for over a year and the service has gone down hill. The past two months Canadians Mavens have received leftovers. It takes longer and longer for the products to ship. I am worried the company will go under
Cheap quality, peels easily, some shades are very thick which makes them stringy and others are too think and need four coats
I signed up for their monthly club. I find that i like typically half of their polishes. Some are too thick and some are too runny.
I found it to be gooey and not spread very even over the nail I had joined the club but cancelled it after my first shipment I'll stick to my opi it never fails and they have amazing colours as we'll
I have a subscription to this polish. I am not disappointed in getting one because their polish is awesome. Compared to OPI it does the same for half the price. Ever since I started to use Julep, my nails have strengthened so much. They have so many different colours to choose from. I love Julep.
I do not own a many Julep polishes. They have a nice selection of colours, but the price point is not that great for what you get. The formula tends to be a bit too thick and gooey and I tend to only use them once.
I subscribed to the Julep monthly box when I received a promo code to get the first box for $0.01.
It seemed like a bad idea not to join with such an awesome deal. I mean, ONE PENNY?!
So, for those who don't know, Julep is a monthly subscription box. You create an account on the website,
www.julep.com
And take the style quiz so they can match polishes to your taste. Every month, you'll get an email with the choices that have been selected for you, and you can change the style, which'll give you different colors than you were emailed with, you can upgrade your box which will give you extra "goodies", or you can skip the month all together. I believe you have a 4 day window to skip the month, and if you do not, your credit card will automatically be charged whether you wanted the box or not.
In the monthly box you will receive 2 nail varnishes & some other product. It could be an eyeliner pencil, "quick dry drops" or even an eye shadow.
Now for how I feel about Julep.
In MY personal opinion, Julep is a pass. I found the varnishes to be really runny & if you had no idea there was such a thing as a nail polish base (like myself), you are likely to have the more intense colors (such as the teal in the middle) stain your nails after you try taking the stuff off. My nails were a nasty yellow-green for about 4 days after I took the stuff off.
As far as cancelling your subscription.. It's not as easy as they make it sound. They say you can email, but then IF they respond to the email, they give you the 1-800 number to call to cancel because they cannot process your request via email. Fine. So you call, and nobody answers. So you call again, and again, and again with a recording saying that the phone lines are too busy, leave a message and they'll get back to you. But they don't. Not until you leave an angry voicemail stating that you'll be contacting your credit card company to inform them that you are no longer allowed to take your money.
