Convenient
I was given the opportunity to try this product free from Family Rated and Knorr. It was my first time trying a spice blend like this one. I tried making the Lentil and Chickpea Stew recipe that was on the back on the package. I did however reduce the amount of the seasoning blend for the first time for my family. It was a little spicy for my children and husband, but I rather enjoyed it. I really like that Knorr has made these seasoning mixes making it simple and easy to make meals without having to measure out a bunch of spices from different containers.
mild subtle spiciness
When this seasoning blend came in the mail, I was excited to try it. When I applied, I selected seasonings that I hadn't cooked before to try something different, and am glad I did. 😀 I love spicy, and reading the ingredients for this 100% natural mix sounded great: paprika, coriander and fenugreek seeds, onion powder, cinnamon, red chili flakes, nutmeg, black pepper, cardamon, allspice, and cloves. I tried the recipe on the bag, Ethopian lentil and chickpeas, but I didn't make it a stew. After using the hot Harissa blend, I didn't use as much this time. So it turned out to be mild, just a subtle spiciness, certainly easy to devour. Served with rice, I enjoyed the dish, as did my often picky husband.😋 It was easy to prepare, and I'll make it a lot.

Great way to try new flavour
I wouldn't ordinarily have tried making an Ethiopian berbere flavoured dish on my own, but was intrigued by the simplicitiy of using a pre-mixed powder seasoning. The taste was unique - a little spicy and definitely rich in flavour. It was easy to adjust the intensity by adding more or less seasoning to the dish. Would recommend for adventurous cooks who want to experiment with ethnic dishes in the kitchen without the hassle of buying multiple new spices that you don't know what to do with afterwards.
Not for me
Unfortunately I didn’t love this Ethiopian spice that I received free for testing purposes. I am not a fan of ginger type aromas and this product had that scent as soon as I opened the package; because of this my dislike is a personal preference and speaks less to the quality of the product.
So tasty!
I received this seasoning blend by Korr for free from FamilyRated review club for reviewing purposes. There are no salt, no added preservatives and no MSG. I incorporated this blend to sweet potatoes and asparagus to one of my favorite simple dishes. It was very tasty, spicy and flavorful. I never tried any Ethiopian dishes before and after tasty this I really like it. It can be a little overwhelming at first. I am excited to try other meals with this spice blend. I definitely recommend trying it out especially to those who like spicy food.
Taste of Ethiopia
I tried this product for the first time the other day .I used the Berbere spice in a dip .I mixed 1 tsp of spice with a bit of sour cream and cut up some peppers and made a yummy dip.
One of a kind
I was so happy to be selected for Knorr Taste Of Ethiopa Berbere Seasoning Blend sample.
I try it on my peas and beans, it did bring out the taste that i was always wanting from my beans.
The only thing i don't like is the cinnamon flavor, because i don't like cinnamon, but apart from that it is good.
I would definitely recommend this product.
very good
I have never tried Ethiopian food before. I have heard so many great things about it and was excited to receive this spice mix from FamilyRated and Knorr.
I didn't follow the Knorr recipe. Instead I followed another recipe using another brand's berbere spice to make chicken. I followed (and altered) this recipe.
You can really smell and taste the cinnamon in the spice mix - which for me is a good thing.
the result was good, but not quite as flavourful as I would have expected. maybe I needed to add more than just the spice mix, onions and garlic. I will keep finding other ways to use this spice mix. I do think this recipe would have worked better with lamb (given the cinnamon) as opposed to the chicken.
