After reading a bunch of reviews on how great this mascara is, I told my sister about it and she got it for me on my birthday. I was so excited to try it but ended up very disappointed.
I have been a mascara junkie for about 30 years now and have tried them all. The Lancôme Grandiose just didn't work for me. I found it dried very quickly and left my lashes hard and brittle. It was clumpy going on and ended up flaking off during the day, especially from my lower lashes. Their was little volume or lengthening The swan brush did nothing special and if anything, was a little irritating to use. I found that what did not flake off my lashes was very hard to remove and left dark smudges under my eyes that were hard to get out.
But it does come in a beautiful container that looks very elegant and expensive.
I have tried other Lancôme mascaras and liked their formulas but this formula just didn't cut it....especially with the hefty price tag, but even if it was drug store priced, I would not buy it again.

This is a great mascara. I usually buy inexpensive mascara's as I haven't found one that I like until now. Doesn't clump and separates lashes quite well with a very interestingly shaped brush!

I think Lancôme hit a home run with the brush on this one. I however am allergic to this formula. I really loved the mascara and I don't know whether I'm just specifically allergic to my tube maybe I have a bad tube? Or maybe I'm just allergic to the whole formula? I've never been allergic to any other makeup product and certainly not Lancôme as I've worn many of their products especially mascaras for almost twenty years. But after $1000's and numerous dr appts and thinking I was going blind the two times I wore this mascara...I won't try it again! My mom loves it! I wanna love it, but it does something to my eyeballs that says no!

So this was a hard product for me to decide on. I liked it, as i've always been a Lancome fan. But somehow i wasn't pleased with the effect of this mascara. I also didn't like the brush. The angle was awkward for me.

This mascara also dried out very quickly. And being that i'm not a makeup person, i don't wear everyday, i was a little disappointed.

The price is a bit expensive, I would stick with Lancome but would go for the original Hypnose mascara instead.

Overall, since its Lancome, its a good product, but just not happy with a few minor things about the Grandiose Mascara...

This mascara is the best. The only thing about it that isn't awesome is the size of the tube, which is larger than a normal tube of mascara. If you want length or volume or any degree of combination between the two, you can achieve it with grandiose. It lifts and opens my eyes nearly as well as my curler. This product is uber buildable, and stays moist long enough to separate lashes or remove any areas with excessive build up. Some reviewers say that the wand is hard to use, but the directions are clear and, in my experience it doesn't matter. How you hold the wand can create a slightly different effect, but that's a personal preference thing.

I loved the wand it was easy to get all my lashes . It brightened my eyes and didn't clump. It came off easily at night with my makeup remover wipes.

One of my favorite mascaras! I love the swan neck wand shape, as it helps me to get to all my baby lashes and the outer lashes as well. I think it's a bit expensive for what it is, but it gives great length and hasn't smudged or flaked on me

I like to make impulse purchases…especially if it has cool packaging. This mascara has a sleek looking bottle and a cute rose at the top. I think that it was intrigued me the most.

My eyelashes are pretty normal, I think. They aren’t really long, they aren’t dark – I’d actually say they are pretty light but I have enough of them so you can actually see I have lashes.

I hate mascara because a) I always rub my eyes then I have black eyes after I rub them b) they always get really hard. So why bother? Then I tried this mascara.

I applied the mascara to my right eye first. The cool thing about this mascara is that it actually has a bent wand also known as a Swan-Neck which makes it easier to put the mascara on at different angles. The wand makes it a bit easier to get into those areas without reapplying to the already coated lashes but you still have to be fairly careful until you get the hang of it.

Applying it to my right eye, it applied nicely. My eyelashes fanned out beautifully until I went to the left eye and it applied very thick. My right eye looked nice and the left eye looked much darker. I couldn’t fix it with the brush (which is rubbery) no matter how much mascara I tried to remove from the stick but luckily I had an old tooth brush, slid it against of lashes a few times then it turned out great. If you aren’t left and right handed, you might have this same problem….or maybe I’m always applying to the left eye incorrectly.

I love how just after one application, it totally brings out my eyes. It’s a nice dark shade yet not dark enough to make it look like I have death eyes. With my eyes, when I use mascara, I always seem to look very scary. Maybe it’s because a lot of the mascaras clump up and just make me look horrible but seeing as this product doesn’t, I had no issues. Every day that I wear this mascara, there is always someone new asking if I did something new. It’s not crazy drastic but drastic enough to make people really notice my eyes.

I feel like my eyelashes are much longer. Not only do I feel like it but they actually look longer. Not sure how exactly they do this but I love it. Short lashes aren’t sexy.

This stuff also stays forever. Some people say it’s hard. Well, it is if you put a crazy amount on your lashes but if you don’t, even if you accidentally rub your eyes, it doesn’t smear and it’s not as hard as some say it is. I passed out one night and woke up in the morning with a crazy mess of a head, slobber on my face and pillow imprints on my cheek yet my mascara still looked the same as it did the morning before!

Now finally, the price. This little bottle runs you about $30 – S35 depending on where you get it. Quite the hefty price tag for mascara if you ask me but this mascara does a great job and can last a long time if use and applied properly.

Lancôme makes great mascara and I love the texture and coverage of their mascara products. However, the swan wand is a gimmick and difficult to use. More often than not I poke myself in the eye or get a huge blotch under my eye - I don't think I'm that clumsy with mascara wands but this one is challenging. I will continue to purchase Lancôme mascara but with the regular wand. Interesting, there was a lot of promotion for this product last year. I don't see much emphasis on the swan wand now and no other companies launching their own version.
