very very runny

I usually dye my hair at home and I've been doing it for years. I saw that L'Oreal preference had some really great colours that appealed to me and since they have a really good reputation, I decided to purchase it.

The instructions are very easy to follow. Once applied, I always put a shower cap on and continue with my housework. With this brand in my hair however, I couldn't do anything! the dye continued to drip and run down my face. I wanted to just wash everything off in the first 15 minutes because it was annoying but decided that I invested my time to dye my hair and I was going to see it through.

My colour came out even and quite beautiful. Ever so slightly darker than I wanted but I hear it lightens up after a few washes.

Overall, the liquidy consistency of this brand is not for me. I much prefer cream colours that down continuously run down my face for 30 minutes. I would not repurchase.

The ammonia makes it a no for me

Application:
Super easy and straightforward. The mixture was a good consistency (not too thick or thin) so it wasn't too messy to apply into my hair. I have shoulder length hair and there was more than enough product to cover my head. The only thing I hated was the toxic smell. I've permed my hair (in salons) and coloured my hair (at home and in salons) and I felt this product was extra toxic. I am not happy about the fact that this has ammonia in it - with all the technology and advanced science out there, there is no need for such harsh chemicals.

Washing out:
As I was washing the product out, I actually felt my hair become COARSER. I was slightly traumatized. BUT once I put on the conditioner, my hair was soooooo silky smooth. I am very very impressed with the conditioner and this is definitely a staple in this hair dye kit.

Color:
I won't be able to comment too much on this because my hair was pretty similar in colour to the one I received (dark brown #3). I can tell it darkened my hair and it looks nice and natural.

I color my hair religiously every 6 weeks & L'Oreal Superior Preference is the only brand for me. I have never had a bad reaction or ugly outcome ever. My color stays true and only begins to fade close to the 5 week mark when I know it's time to color again. I strongly recommend this product for anyone wanting a great at home color with fabulous shine and 100% grey coverage.

This permanent colour actually washed out of my hair. It went on pretty evenly though. I also didn't think my hair got dry or damaged after it, so I'd still recommend it. Just not crazy about it is all.
