Lipivir
As someone who suffers from coldsores when stressed or hormonal, I will try anything not to get them. I have been using Lipivir for a few very stressful weeks and no coldsores. It is one of those things that you can't tell if it worked, because you don't know if you would have got one. But with all that is going on in my life right now, a very good indication that it works.
It does make your lips pucker a bit and feel almost numb and rubbery when first applied, so do wait the full five minutes before applying lipstick.
It is quite pricey, but so are medications to treat coldsores and a little goes a long way. The tube seems small but there is plenty of product left after using it twice daily.
The taste is more bitter than pure lemon, but is gone before the 5 minutes it recommends you let the product dry on the lips.
I received this free as part of the Chick Advisor Product Review program
Easy to wear this under my lipstick
The tube is fairly easy to use. The product is a bit thin, so it's easy to dispense more than needed, so some has been wasted. It goes on quite easily. I would recommend starting with as little as possible at first, and then add more if needed, otherwise if there's too much on the lips it can go into the mouth, and it tastes of medicine. It dries well on the lips, and provides nice hydration, and looks good when I apply my regular lipstick over it. It doesn't leave any greasy or sticky residue, which is fabulous!
Definitely worth a try!!
Mild lemon flavour but nothing noticeable once dry. Will be trying it until tube is empty to see if it helps with cold sore flare ups! Fingers crossed!
Once dry, makeup and lip gloss/lip stick applied totally normal! Yippee!

I hope this will be the answer to my cold sore nemesis
I have had cold sores for as long as I can remember and they are awful things. Anyone who hasn't had one can't appreciate the pain and discomfort they cause, let alone the fact they look horrendous. I tend to get them, not just on my lips, but on my nose too. Every year I can get anything from a couple to five or six each winter season and one or two during the summer.
Many of the treatments I have tried are reliant on applying them when you first get the cold sore tingle. But, with me, I find many of my cold sores come up overnight. So. I'm perfectly okay when I go to bed, but wake up with a cold sore, by which time it's a bit late.
Lipivir needs to be applied morning and night, every day. You simply apply a small amount, a little goes a long way, to the areas affected and remember to wait five minutes before applying skincare and makeup products. The tube it comes in is very tiny and contains 2g of product which they say should last 2 months.
I have been using this for a week now and find it very easy to integrate into my routine. As long as I allow it to dry for five minutes before applying skincare and makeup it does not affect them. Lipstick and foundation, for example, go on fine and I've had no coverage problems.
The product is in a gel format that does have a very bitter taste if you happen to taste it, but it soon goes away and I've managed to avoid licking it after the first time. It goes on very easily and spreads well.
I did notice on the info leaflet inside the product that it says it does not offer any SPF protection, so you will need to use another product for this purpose. I personally would do this as the extreme sun can be a trigger for me. It also says it can cause lips to feel dry, so perhaps a lip balm with SPF is the answer.
I really have my fingers crossed for this product. If I don't get any cold sores during the winter months, I think I can safely say it works. I have never gone a whole winter without an outbreak or two.
Lipivir costs $26.99 CND, and I, fortunately, got this one free, but if it works, I won't hesitate to buy it. Anyone who suffers from cold sores will understand that this is a very small price to pay for a cold sore-free existence. Fingers crossed!
Easy to make part of your routine
I get cold sores all the time. This product was easy to use. apply a small amount twice a day which is easy/ There is a slight lemon scent at first but it goes away once the product dries. Goes on smooth and cool. They i put my lipstick right over it. Would highly recommend to others that suffer from cold sores.. if it stops even one thats enough for me.

Bien
Great product for my daily routine
Cold sores are no fun.. and I was so excited when I saw that ChickAdvisor had a product review opportunity for this. I am one (of I'm sure many!) with occasional cold sores that are stubborn and come back.. thankfully I got to #trylipivir and #gotitfree.
During the trial of this product, I was fortunate to be cold-sore FREE but was able to try how well this product would work with my daily skincare and makeup routine.

During the trial of this product, I was fortunate to be cold-sore FREE but was able to try how well this product would work with my daily skincare and makeup routine. This product worked great under my lip balm and gloss duo... as well as went undetected without the usual vaseline-like shine that cold-sore treatments tend to have!
Will def have this handy next time that stubborn cold sore comes around.
