Lipivir Review
I received this product complimentary from chick advisor to review and give my honest opinion. I think it is great quality, long lasting and doesn’t ruin your secondary lip product when placed on top. Unfortunately I cannot say how well it would prevent cold sores as it has been quite some time since I’ve felt one coming on. I would recommend the product none the less for preventative measures for those who are prone to cold sores.
The product I've been waiting for my whole life
Finally! A product that can be used daily to prevent cold sores. I take medication for them when I feel them coming but this product is brilliant as it's a preventative. It applies great and especially under lipstick. I would highly recommend this product to those that suffer from cold sores like I do.
Easy to use
This product was given to me free ChickAdvisor to test and review.
A little goes a long way. Super easy to put on underneath your regular lip gloss or lipstick. Doesn't have a scent or flavour to it which I love.
There was one thing about it that I didn't like however. That was that it seemed to make my lips feel very hot all day long. Initially I thought it was just something that you would feel when putting it on and eventually the feeling would dissipate however, The feeling stayed with me all day. It wasn't a burning sensation, like they were on fire, but more of a intense warmth.
I haven't had a cold sore since I started using it, but then again I only get them once or maybe twice a year and I've only been using this for a couple of weeks.
Not for me personally
I get cold sores, especially in the winter. So when I found out I would be receiving this complimentary/free for reviewing purposes, I was very excited. As a beauty blogger, I am wearing different makeup products daily, so I need something that is going to work into my daily routine flawlessly. This does work with some products, and not with others. For myself, this on its own is fine. Once paired with some products though it changes how they wear, which for me is a big issue. It caused some of my Longwear lipsticks to not wear as well, ball up or crack. The taste itself wasn't horrible, what I would expect from an "ointment type product. I would have preferred it in a balm stick for easier application, but it isn't too bad this way. I also don't like the idea of applying something all the time, for a cold sore I get maybe once every two months or so. I understand it's a preventative, and would be better maybe for someone that gets them more often maybe, but for myself I don't think it would be worth it in value for a "possible" break out.
So easy to use.
I was quite excited to try this product. I frequently get cold sores that last a long time and are not pleasant to look at or use makeup on top.
This product was so easy to use. Twice a day and I could apply my makeup on top with no issues. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who suffers like I do with cold sores.

Healthy smoochers
This little tune of lipivir is wonderful! The second I applied it to my lips, I felt it working. Good bye cold sores and chapped lips...hello gorgeous soft lips!!!
Peace of mind
I have used LIPIVIR for several weeks and had not had a cold sore at all. I normally get one every year and think this is a great idea. I have already recommended it to several people who get them often. It goes on nice and is not oily and it does not have an unpleasant taste
Not the best
I wasn't really a fan of this product. While I did not experience any cold sores during the month I used it I found it to be somewhat of an annoyance. I found the product To be gloopy and would leave a weird texture on my lips. Then my liquid matte lipstick would end up looking chunky or cracked. I could see it not being a problem under a cream lipstick but I only wear matte. Not the best option for me.
Works great but is pricey
I received this free from Chick Advisor. Lipivir is Cruelty and Vegan. The ingredients seem to only be polyethylene glycols and lemon.
Packaging and Price:
Love the packaging. The colours are lovely. It's very cute and it's small enough to basically take anywhere with you. The down fall of it being small though is that it can be easily lost. Lipivir is around 27 dollars plus tax. This is the price of a high end lipstick (Bite, Urban decay, Kat von D, ect). Most high end lipsticks are 4-6g and Lipivir is 2g. Not to compare lipsticks to Lipivir directly to high end make up. However, being this price I wish the product was larger or that it was built into a lipstick instead of being designed to go under one. Particularly because you are supposed to use it twice a day.
Formula and Wear:
I really like that this product is clear. One of the things I hate about most cold swore medications is that it's usually white and/or shiny. Lipivir definitely requires VERY little of it's own product. If you put too much on you feel like you have a strange film on your lips. Which was a mistake I made quite a few times. I also made the mistake of eating it haha. It has a citrus smell and a bitter taste to it. I will say overall it works great at keeping cold swores away and I only applied it once a day. It is easy to use once you get the correct amount figured out. Also it hides very easily under any lipstick.
My General Opinions:
This is where I get the mixed feelings. I wore Lipivir for a solid week straight. I had no cold sores and then one day forgot and I immediately got a cold sore. I applied it again and it quickly went away. I worry that my body had become dependent on it. I personally would only use it when I feel a cold or cold sore coming on for this reason. If you have chronic cold sores this might be a better choice then Abreva but if you just get them here or there I would say it's comparable.
It definitely does work and does everything it claims but it's a bit pricey because of this I am undecided on if I would purchase this in the future over Abreva or any other cold sore medication.
I didn't notice any change in how long cold sores lasted. Also never noticed any change on how bad of a breakout there was. I would say this product is not worth the money. Also the packaging although nice and discreet, the size of the tube made a bunch of product push itself out of the tube and ended up being discarded because of it. I wouldn't waste my money on this product.
